Whether this was random street crime or targeted political violence, I think it was bad for the president to unnecessarily put the National Guard in harm’s way like this. They simply don’t need to be there.

When you publish a website that posts the names and photos of scholars who have written or said things you disagree with and encourage people to surveil and harass them, you are not, in fact, a “free speech” organization.
It is quite simply dishonest to describe TPUSA as a “free speech” organization and not even mention the “Professor Watchlist,” as NPR just did. Reporting on a crime does not entail adopting the victim’s views.

@thetnholler.bsky.social did you see where sections 9&10 of article 1 of the constitution have been scrubbed from the official constitution.congress.gov website? I called my congressional delegation but none of them knew about it at all.

Iran coordinated the ‘retaliation’ with Qatari officials, to let Iran save face while ensuring no casualties. It’s back channel diplomacy with missiles but still better than no diplomacy at all. Now the US needs to pause and be an adult. And it’s the adult part that worries me…

We’ve bombed Iran. And dismantled our joint terrorism task force. And sent a third of the FBI to help ICE. And gutted the National Security Council. And a drunk guy is in charge at the pentagon. And our intelligence allies probably won’t share intel with us. Because people couldn’t vote for a woman.

To make matters worse, importers are leaving inventory in China ports. Waiting for tariffs to be lowered. If they are lowered enough, there will be a crush to ship them here and transport them when they get here. That will drive transportation costs way up. = More inflation, post tariffs
That means empty shelves, an economic slowdown, and layoffs, actually.

It’s not that they don’t know what the constitution says. They know what it says. Just like they knew what it said when they asked Pence to ignore it.

They just don’t care.

They believe it can be rewritten by bending it to their will, if enough of them decide to do it.

And there’s a term for “unidentified, masked law enforcement”: secret police. The US right now has a secret police arbitrarily arresting people, including opposition politicians and students.
Those still trying really hard to believe things are ok will say, “it was an isolated incident, only a couple of hours…”. In the real world, everyone has taken notice that, if this can happen to a mayor in his own city, they’d better think twice before taking a stand in opposition.
