Many years ago when I was an editor I went to my boss and asked why we were allowing ourselves to become so reliant on Amazon...I suggested that publishers could mutually invest in a central bookselling website where orders were sent direct to relevant hubs and the amount we'd save because...

just a quick note that if you’re trying to assign blame for a law promoted, passed, and signed into law by Democrats to someone other than Democrats, you are not a savvy politics knower, you’re in denial and it’s embarrassing

Spent the morning shoveling snow with my kid. We talked about how--because the world is increasingly stupid, unkind, and selfish--we need to work hard at being curious, kind, and helpful to others. Even if we're just starting with shoveling the walk for our community.

These institutions have always greenwashed themselves to cover their exploitation of the earth and its pple for profit. I encourage everyone to bank local.
They weren't doing anything about climate change anyway, and now they're telling us they're not doing anything.

Several large U.S. financial institutions, including the Federal Reserve, have withdrawn from climate action networks as the convicted felon Donald Trump's presidency begins.

Yeah, using AI to write your book is embarrassing, but not nearly as embarrassing as leaving the ChatGPT prompt response in your published copy

When I look at the fear this man thrives on. What he wants to project and sow onto so many. The fear and anger that his supporters want to sow into everyone, I immediately relax. They want fear. More fear. Fear keeps people under control. And I won’t be under their control

Update on this i was told there is no way to turn off on browser then I would be sent a link to talk to a special team which I never received. Might be time to stop using Word.
before doing something drastic with my microsoft subscription, i decided to chat into the customer support. midway through the chat, my messages stopped delivering, and the rescue link didn't work. I still have no idea how to turn off copilot in one drive.

Leftists who don’t care about the war on porn should look closer. Obscenity laws are the first step in banning ALL “degenerate” art.

They are already saying that drag queens and trans people are sex predators. That queer books are porn. They are priming the people to lump it all together!!
Pay attention to the newly accelerated war on porn.

Thinking about doing this.
Make a personal website. It can be really simple! Do it for free at neocities.org! But have one of your very own that no one else controls. And start a newsletter. Make sure the service allows you to export and move your subscribers. Okay, now you have some independence and options.
Regardless of the issues w/ the TikTok ban, these kind of takes are strange to me. Do people not realize these apps are constantly dying (Friendster, Orkut) or withering away (Tumblr, MySpace) or "pivoting" in ways that crash industries (Facebook, Twitter)? You cannot ever trust them.

Deportation is a moral atrocity. Forced relocation en masse is genocidal. It's evil. It's wrong. And no one deserves it.

My zipcode flipped from a red to blue house of rep so the first thing this guy does, naturally, is support the Laken Riley Act.

Can we please stop pretending vote blue no matter who works.

I hate ai. I hate the ai-fication of every facet of life. nothing is real. the images are fake, the products are fake, the websites that host these images are fake. creativity and curiosity is stifled by the ai-ification of search engines. the internet is junkspace now. everything feels like spam.
