President Trump is pursuing a policy of climate-change acceleration. His actions are fueling global warming—and may leave places in the United States uninhabitable by mid-century, Vann R. Newkirk II writes.
What Climate Change Will Do to America by Mid-Century
Many places may become uninhabitable. Many people may be on their own.

I am one of those who considers Robbie Gibb to be a malign influence on everything he touches professionally, but this blunderbuss attack is a logical mess.
BBC board member with Tory links ‘led charge’ in systemic bias claims, say insiders
Sources say Robbie Gibb amplified criticisms of Trump, Gaza and trans rights coverage, and had ‘a lot of oxygen in the room’

"When people are fair to Israel and treat it like any other nation, which I don’t think they do, I will be much more willing to express in public the things I express in private to Israelis."

Alex Karp has a point, but open criticism of any state committing war crimes is a moral imperative.

A few hours have passed since it was announced that transwomen athletes are to be banned from female Olympic competitions. Reaction so far has been near nonexistent.

"Brussels stalls Brexit reset talks as carbon tax deadline looms"

This was always on the cards. The chance of an agreement in time for the new year carbon tax regime is very small.

Yelland is echoing what many in the journalism trade have been warning. When it comes to Tim Davie, this is a blue-on-blue civil war being played out, with Robbie Gibb and others hanging a former Conservative comrade out to dry.

I’ve just announced I’ll be leading a National Emergency Briefing on 27 November . At a time when climate is in free fall on the political agenda , it’s vital our leaders realise what is at stake if we do not accelerate a just , green transition for all .

Interesting insights from @katierazzbbc.bsky.social. Most notable is her reference to the BBC board (of which the nefarious Robbie Gibb is a member).

Right and left both accuse the BBC of institutional bias, which misses the mark. The real problem is that BBC News is institutionally crap.

No doubt the first of many contrarian takes on today's BBC resignations, of which we could do with a whole bunch more (starting with Gibb).

The PPU could be described as appeasers of the Nazis, but not "pro-Hitler", objectively or otherwise. Either way, buying their white poppies puts good groats after bad.
On white poppies, it's worth remembering that they were associated with the Peace Pledge Union, by the late 1930s an objectively pro-Hitler organisation. Some people choose to wear them. They are fools, I'm afraid.

The problem with the white poppy is that it represented those that wished to appease Hitler and not go to war no matter what. The peace pledge union which it represents is a pacifist organisation that says No War at any cost. Personally I think it’s time to set aside the entire performative aspect.

The white poppy is not simply a way to "remember all victims", as some will tell you: it's an explicitly pacifist symbol, i.e. opposing even defensive war and promoting conscientious objection, still sold by the same organisation that opposed fighting first Hitler and now Putin

I see Zack Polanski is again making a tit of himself on the telly.

Polanski states that it would be sociopathic not to negotiate with a president or prime minister, and in the next breath says he won't work with Starmer.

Serious members of the Green Party, of which there are many, deserve better.
