There wasn't any cover-up. Former Special Counsel Robert Mueller reported in his finding that Russia in fact, indeed played a role in 2016 election. MAGA Republicans to this day, don't want to accept those facts and findings. It wasn't a "hoax" or a "conspiracy." Look in the report findings.
