we passed this point long ago. the Christchurch shooter murdered more than 50 people for the memes. if you don't realize that was part of the point for him you don't understand this stuff.
The prospect of large scale violence committed, more or less, for the memes, is terrifying. And if we're not there already, we are rapidly speeding towards it.
If this was straightforward internecine conflict of fash-on-fash violence, that would be a difficult concept to swallow for most people.

But the idea that young disturbed men are using "normal" political categories as accoutrements to their abyssal anti-logic... where do you even fucking start?

Reading Dracula for the first time. Did they really just let people read their diaries upon first meeting back in the day? Fucking weirdos.

Every. Single. Story. about women not using AI as much as men portray it as bad for their future career prospects (without a shred of evidence) and a result of women being fearful little ladies rather than looking at AI's output and saying "this sucks, it's not going to help me."
For women, the increase of AI use in the workplace may affect their careers: Harvard study
Women are using AI significantly less then men and it’s going to have a major impact on their careers, according to extensive research on the topic.

You know that scene in an action movie when the bad guy runs through the kitchen of a restaurant and pulls down all the pots and pans behind him to slow down his pursuers? We're in that part of the Trump presidency.

Sad as it is to say, the greatest consoling thought I have as we march towards a fascism is how unlikely it is to last not because people are brave, or moral, or prepared to combat it... but because it's expensive to maintain, and the man driving us to it couldn't even keep a fucking casino afloat.

Something a little different for me, a modern setting 😱 I liked how this piece came out, though.

Snow lands on top?
Every avalanche starts with a snowflake. The shape of the snowflake, what happens once it hits the ground, the weather that precedes it — all those things can contribute to whether the flake becomes part of a destructive wave of snow rushing down a mountain.
How Snow Becomes Deadly
This season, more than 20 people died in avalanches in the U.S. Can mountains be safer?

Our public library system increasingly feels like a miracle. The ability to walk in, find a book, check it out, and bring it home—for free, on an honor system—offers a glimpse of a society in which collective knowledge and well-being are valued above profit.

Nearly every time I tell someone I'm finishing my English degree they ask me if I'm going to teach. I really want to tell them to check their misogynistic influences and also a degree in English is not a degree in Education you ignorant fucks.

Trump: "We're gonna be selling a gold card. You have a green card, this is a gold card. We're gonna put a price on that card of about $5 million and that's going to give you green card privileges, plus. It's gonna be a route to citizenship, and wealthy people will be coming into our country."
