Now that Governor Ferguson is on record opposing a wealth tax, the stakes for HB 2045 are even higher.

Passing this corporate tax with no exemptions for billion dollar big businesses means fewer cuts to education, to healthcare, to the social safety net in Washington State.

You know, there were Germans who resisted Nazism. Brave souls who couldn’t bear the shame. People who did all they could even though being caught meant death.

The Americans right now who are obeying in advance. Who are capitulating out of fear of loss of PROFIT, how can you possibly bear the shame?

It's easy to feel powerless right now and the truth is a lot of what's happening in the world and at home IS out of our control. But what we do and what we say, we own. The marks we leave matter, even if they seem small.

Remembering for some reason how surprised everyone was at how quickly and comprehensively the USSR disintegrated, like it had already rotted from the inside and all that was left was a facade that seemed impressive and enduring but was hollow as papier-mache.

Among the material devastation to everyday people, Senate Dems have now blown a hole in their ability to work with the House.

We had an agreed upon plan, House took immense risk, then Senate turned around midway and destroyed it w/ a fear-based, inexplicable abdication.

They own what happens next.

Forgetting is like ignorance. Easy, dangerous, and simpler to live with.

Remembering is like pain. Difficult, necessary, and easier to love with.

Alberto Lovo Rojas has a legal work permit and a family in Spokane. He’s been detained.

This is a cruel attempt from the Trump administration to deport a hardworking, law-abiding Washingtonian who's contributing to his community and our economy.

This should be the response of schools, companies, and agencies regarding the push against DEI. Not just non-compliance, but active defiance.

As these layoffs roll through, we can defend NASA without lionizing it. I'm not a unique genius. I'm not the best at what I do! I work really hard and so do a lot of other folks at NASA, and we deserve to be treated with respect as workers, not because what we do is uniquely brilliant or important.

Just a friendly reminder:
- If you're overwhelmed, play games, watch TV, indulge in escapism, but don't let it consume all of your time.
- If you're feeling direction-less: Join a cause, advocate, work with your community, but don't forget to take breaks.

We need both of these things.

Somebody needs to channel Audre Lorde and explain to the institutional leaders of higher education that their silence will not protect us. We need to be 10 toes down and LOUD about celebrating and explaining the value of education, the importance of free inquiry, the life saving impact of research..

Operation ICE Ride-Along isn’t going as planned. 🔥

Fox News tagged along with ICE, hoping for an exclusive look at “dangerous criminals.” Instead, they got a whole lot of nothing. No threats, no big arrests—just a community that wasn’t having it. The narrative is falling apart.

I work for The Weather Company, which has a much used cellphone app for the weather, provides aviation weather services, and much more. We stand on the backs of giants, relying on information from the National Weather Service for what we do. Harming the NWS will harm us and many other businesses.

I am incredibly lucky to live in a state that is willing to stand up for what is clearly right. Words are not minced and they're not reaching across the aisle to be friends with Nazis. It's great.

I don't see how it's fair that my government is collapsing in on itself like a dying star and yet I'm getting emails reminding me that it's tax season. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to pay my share, but what exactly am I paying for right now?

I know we in America like to blame systemic problems on individual choices, but maybe we can not blame Muslim voters for what is happening in Gaza? I get that people are angry with protest voters, but perhaps the problem is a voting system and a democratic party that don't actually listen?

So I'm currently an MSW (Social Work) student and I have to say, it's really sad to be going through the curriculum, which makes a compelling case for the importance of my field advancing beyond a problematic history, all while seeing it be forcibly regressed in real time.
