I like the part in “Shoop” by Salt ‘n Pepa where she says “I swear, I stared, my niece my witness” because most songs don’t even bother to include independent third party verification of their claims.

HBO has declined to renew “Sesame Street” for new episodes. The series that’s been teaching generations of little kids since 1969 now has no studio.

Please consider donating to Sesame Workshop to ensure the residents of 123 Sesame Street are still around to teach kids of all needs and backgrounds.

One thing you will never think after reading a great book or listening to a great album or seeing a great piece of art is, “I’m really glad this person remained cautious while they were making this and guarded against being perceived as weird.”

Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1k/month. A year later, nearly half had housing.

They also had fewer ER visits, nights spent in a hospital, and jail stays.

The report estimates that this reduction in public service use SAVED the city $589k.

Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1,000 a month. A year later, nearly half of participants said they had housing.
Participants in Denver's basic-income program reported having more-secure housing, though results were similar in the trial and control groups.

Anyone who is concerned about the way AI is exacerbating social and economic problems should be citing this report. Excellent work from @kevindeliban.bsky.social and @techtonicjustice.bsky.social
"92 million low-income people in the U.S. states—everyone whose income is less than 200 percent of the federal poverty line—have some basic aspect of their lives decided by AI"

The usual suspects are out there yelling "There are 23 million government workers! Fire most of them!" No awareness that most work for local governments, and most of *them* are schoolteachers. Federal employment hasn't grown since the 1950s

Sometimes my clients come to me confused about their Gen Z employees. Stories of them doing the bare minimum (not meeting expectations) but doing things like asking for 20-40% raises during reviews 😂 (I know).

Stumbled upon these charts last night, it’s starting to make more sense...
