"Where failure goes to be fossilised."
Has to be one of the best lines of '25....
My funniest thing about 2025 in a purely Australian context is that Barbaby Joyce was pushed out of the Nats by the force of public opinion (imagine that!), and joined Hanson's One Nation where failure goes to be fossilised.

Israeli violence against journalists has evolved to target the families and relatives of journalists “in a clear attempt to turn journalistic work into an existential burden for which sons, wives, fathers, and mothers pay the price”.
Our ruling class continues to condone such atrocities.

How in the goddamn flying fuck do we live in a country where the murders of 15 people from one racial/religious group ONCE requires both a Royal Commission AND the deployment of the army but the murders of 80 women EVERY YEAR since time immemorial fucking doesn’t??

It’s extraordinary how quickly the media can mobilise & demand government to act on certain issues.

Imagine if they had that same urgency for First Nations deaths in custody or women killed by men.

There’s twice as many utes as tradies in Australia. We need remove the luxury car tax exemption which incentivises people to buy megautes instead of safer, cleaner smaller cars and SUVs.

Large SUVs and utes are 82% more likely to kill children in collisions- 44% more likely to kill adult pedestrians or cyclists. They damage our roads and add to air pollution, harming our health.
Pedestrian fatalities reach 17-year-high. This trend could be why
Fifty-one pedestrians had been killed on the state’s roads this year as of Saturday – the most in any calendar year since 2008.

No accident.
Politicians have opportunistically wooed the ‘tradie’ vote with a raft of generous tax concessions that have essentially bankrolled purchase of these recreational vehicles, and funded a host of recreational accessories…all claimed on tax returns as work related expenses

News out today shows big utes designed to cary cargo are better at killing pedestrians than smaller vehicles designed to cary people

did you know the popularity of these behemoths is based on a range of subsidies?

But the govt is inquiring into subsidies for EVs…

Here’s an idea for the PM: try to understand that the vast majority of Australians don’t like ANY extreme violence against civilians - whether at Bondi or in Gaza - and have the right to say so.

Agreed
Everyone has their favourite writers and commentators on particular topics. And when it comes to Australian politics, mine are very easy to nominate; Amy Remeikis, Dave Milner and Ronni Salt. If you're not familiar with their work, do yourself a favour, they're all outstanding.

“why are we letting grasping politicians spread further hate and division?”.
Our hearts are shattered – and some have broken them further
