I have been thinking lots recently about the play Rhinocerous by the Romanian playwright, Eugène Ionesco. Written in 1959, in the thick of the postwar emergence of European absurdism, it is kind of shocking to me how much he nails the feeling of the rise of populist, violent, outrageous ideologies

I am bewildered that this labour of Sisyphus is being carried out by volunteers, while Southern Water, which has admitted responsibility for the catastrophe, is doing nothing to remediate it.
