70 cars vs 1,000 bikes
70 coches
VS
1.000 bicis

Deberíamos agradecer a la gente que va en bici la cantidad de espacio que deja libre para los demás.

Some stats from 100 days in on congestion pricing:
- Complaints about car-honking are down 70%
- The Holland Tunnel has 65% fewer delays at rush hour; time to get thru it is down 48%
- 6 million fewer cars
- Half as many traffic-related injuries
- 1.5 million more visitors to BIDs year over year
How Well Is Congestion Pricing Doing? Very.
One hundred days in, honking is down; bus speeds are up.

When Dutch cities first started removing cars from their streets and squares, some cynics argued, “We’re not the Mediterranean!”

Opponents claimed they didn’t have the requisite year-round walking and terrace cultures of Spain, France, and Italy; due to the hostile climate.

They definitely do now.

“One mile on a bike is a $.42 economic gain to society, one mile driving is a $.20 loss.”

“Which means that Copenhagen, a city of 1.2 million people, saves $357 million a year on health costs because something like 80% of its population commutes by bike.” #CityMakingMath

Some costs aren’t costs.
One mile on a bike is a $.42 economic gain to society, one mile driving is a $.20 loss
Copenhagen, the bicycle-friendliest place on the planet, publishes a biannual Bicycle Account, and buried in its pages is a rather astonishing fact.

Just at a curiosity, is there a reason why PEI and Newfoundland refused to agree to remove barriers for selling alcohol? Glad the other provinces are pursuing this along with eliminating some of the other interprovincial trade barriers. #cdnpoli #ONpoli www.cbc.ca/news/politic...
More Canadian alcohol to be sold at a store near you | CBC News
Ottawa has reached a deal with the majority of provinces to allow Canadian booze to flow more freely across the country just as U.S. liquor is pulled from their store shelves.

Looking forward to doing the keynote at the @rideillinois.bsky.social Walk and Bike Summit this May.

Grateful for the opportunity to counter an auto dominated mainstream narrative by reframing road safety and reMarketing our streets.

How am I feeling? It's summed up in this conversation with @madhupai.bsky.social: "I think hope is the correct response to the miracle of human consciousness. I am concerned (and discouraged) in the face of our historical moment. But I refuse to respond with despair."

Today I learned that this bike exists, offering an accessible option for people that don’t have the mobility to ride their own bike. What a neat idea :)
