That United States spends months worsening climate change by sending carbon emitting bombs to be dropped from carbon emitting fighter jets in a genocide against Palestine, and then the climate effects are felt first and most by Black people in Jamaica and Haiti.

It's all connected. I hate it.

I just had a thought for a courtroom drama: a Covid Inquiry play - but unlike the official inquiries, ask and answer the questions that should be asked, and don't restrict the parameters to the past, when the covid pandemic is ongoing!

Yeah, it really sucks that this thing that nobody thinks about for more than five minutes is still keeping me socially isolating, as per my doctor's recommendation, due to my chronic illnesses.

The vulnerable have fallen by the wayside & it sucks.

Long covid alone makes it significantly more serious than the flu. And since it is a novel illness, we don't know what the effects will be 10 years out, but we DO already know that it destroys immune systems & folks are sicker, more often. Imo it's not time to be so cavalier about it just yet.

Dude mostly harmless??? A friend and her young child were recently hospitalised with Covid. People are still DYING of Covid - just not at the levels they were. I work in public health. Covid is still around - just not in the news.

I like to use the phrase "early pandemic" to establish the expectation of when the timeline had everyone staying home or at least social distancing and actually following the (imperfect and inadequate) public health recommendations we were getting at the time.
I will die on this hill:

it isn’t hard to say “at the height of the pandemic” or “at the start of COVID” during a podcast interview. Producers, hosts, don’t let your guests say “during COVID” like this thing is over. Correct them. Ask them to say the sentence again. This is your job.

My friend in Palestine, Osama, has been excitedly sending me hearts to every wedding picture I post and a wonderful loving message about how happy he is to see such joy. Fuck the “see how queers are treated in Palestine” discourse because all I’ve had is love from him and other families.

When you wear a mask, you tell disabled and vulnerable people that their lives matter. That you don’t see them as expendable

You tell your others that you value community care

You tell the government that you know Covid isn’t over & you want better from public health

It’s a symbol of resistance

Money spent on Rowling's work is money donated to transphobia. I don't want to single out individual actors but I consider the HBO Harry Potter series a moral disaster. You literally cannot separate the art from the artist on an economic level.

Henry was the PhD student on the project, who has since graduated and is now working with Lidia Morawska down under.
