A giant banner of Trump is now ominously hanging at the front of the Dept. of Agriculture. It's not the kind of thing American presidents do. It's more in line with what you typically see in places like North Korea -- and it's the latest sign that America might be sliding into autocracy. #Velshi
Big Donald Is Watching You: Sliding into autocracy under Trump 2.0
A giant banner featuring Donald Trump’s photo just went up at the front of the Department of Agriculture. A military parade is being planned for his birthday, which coincides with the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army. His cabinet members shower him with praise every time they have a meeting. These are not the kinds of things that normally happen in the United States. It’s more in line with how autocratic leaders display their power in oppressive nations like North Korea and Iran to constantly remind people who’s in charge. But now that it’s starting to happen here, we have to acknowledge it and recognize it as a sign that America is sliding into autocracy.

The Rules Committee meets at 1 AM on Tuesday night/ Wednesday morning to ram through this disastrous bill. Why? Because they don't want you to see them ripping healthcare from millions of Americans.

You do not hold a hearing for a bill at 1 AM unless you're completely ashamed of it.

Right now, Democrats should be unified in opposition against Trump’s Tax Scam and Republicans’ corruption.

Unfortunately, some Senate Democrats are on the verge of helping the GOP advance a bill that would enable Trump’s corruption. Please call your senators ASAP: indivisible.org/resource/cal...

Just a few weeks ago people were pitching Cory Booker as a front runner for the 2028 Dem presidential nomination.

Tonight he was the only Senate Dem to vote to confirm Jared Kushner’s convict dad as ambassador to France.

Sheesh.

Dems across the board feel beaten down. Polling supports that conclusion. I know I feel that way. I’m not sure how we all rally. wapo.st/3WT7ata
Analysis | Here’s how dejected the Democrats really are
The Democratic Party doesn’t seem to have much fight in it, as poll after poll is showing, even as the Trump administration continues its onslaught.

Not that it’s a conflict of interest or anything but maybe Musk and Trump wanted to shut down USAID and called it a criminal organization because it was investigating Musk’s StarLink due to issues in Ukraine and the fact that StarLink tech wound up in Russian drones. www.newsweek.com/usaid-elon-m...
Alleged USAID probe into Starlink raises Elon Musk conflict concerns
In 2022, USAID and Starlink collaborated to provide 5,000 Starlink terminals to Ukraine amid its ongoing war against Russia.

What a shame.

Let’s hand all the support the global community needs to China and Russia. That seems like a good plan. Can’t imagine that shuttering USAID has anything to do with them investigating StarLink in the Ukraine. Nah, couldn’t possibly be.

The HHS website covering HIPAA and reproductive health information has been taken down. 🤰

That’s nice but the ABA has an overview of HIPAA rules around reproductive health data.

HIPAA remains the law of the land. Laws are set by Congress, not whiny incels.
Just Say No! HIPAA and Requests for Reproductive Health Information
On April 22, 2024, the Office of Civil Rights issued a Final Rule titled HIPAA Privacy Rule to Support Reproductive Health Care Privacy (2024 Final Privacy Rule).
