Just updated MacBook to 26.1 and this is kinda small with everything else going on right now but widgets have been moved from the Notification Center to the Desktop (where they hide under open windows but not the Desktop) and hey macOS developers we had a way to do this which was called Dashboard

What perfect album came out the year you turned 16?

There's the one I heard on the radio at the time, and the one I didn't find out about 'til later.

The article is about El Monte Ave in Mountain View CA but the city considers the nearby Escuela Ave interchange to be of a piece with it, and that latter is a good place to get hit by a car while pedestrian

Mountain View weighs El Monte 'road diet' after pedestrian fatalities
Long-awaited improvements are beginning to take shape on El Monte Avenue, a corridor in Mountain View with a record of pedestrian fatalities.

I usedta think that "Does the pope shit in his pants?" would have to involve a whole lot of lossy compression but now I have despair that we will manage to overcome the technical obstacles
This is real

Can't help but think there's some reason why the workers voted against VTA's proposal on Monday and it's probably a story worth telling
To help ease the loss of transit service, VTA is offering riders Uber vouchers of up to $5 for each ride with a maximum of 2 rides per day. Rides must begin and end at a VTA bus or light rail stop, and must be ordered on Uber’s mobile app. Redeem your voucher at

not that it’s not already apparent that his claim to never see Nazis and not know how to find them is a blatant lie, but I have personally drawn Hamish’s attention to several Nazis on Substack and watched him squirm. he knows they’re there.
Here is the co-founder of Substack blaming its users for seeing Nazis on the platform and then trying to deflect from the fact that Substack revenue shares with Nazis by saying he encounters more extremism here on Bluesky (which doesn't revenue share with Nazis).

This is I ndefensible.

On my walk to Palo Alto round 1730 on 31 Dec 2024, someone took the exit off San Antonio Road to the frontage road that leads to Alma. Their white Tesla turned its brights on at me. Thinking the pilot in commmand might be having trouble seeing I presented Figure 1 to help them focus.
A real photo and perfect metaphor heading into 2025.

Last night's transit adventure was wrapped round this. LR from Mountain View to Civic Center (transfer Orange to Green Line at Old Ironsides), get off and wait for vintage trolley car 2001 to go south. Take 2001 to San Jose Diridon, wander round to find the 22 bus, take 22 north/west to go home.
The trolleys run from 3pm to 9pm this weekend and next weekend from Civic Center to Diridon, and they’re free.

I would highly suggest taking your loved ones and local foamers if you're in the area. The vibes are so good 🫶

Important tip to anyone living in New Jersey: an N95, KN95, or KF94 filter mask will protect you from the Drone Spores. Wear one anytime you're in a crowded space and you'll be a lot less likely to develop the Mysterious Cough.
Y'all, people in New Jersey are getting sick from just reading about the drones
