Speaker Heastie recognizes what New Yorkers know: it’s not only popular but necessary to ask the wealthiest individuals and the most profitable corporations to pay a little more in taxes so we can deliver an agenda that lowers costs for working families.

Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie endorsed Mamdani's platform to pay for universal child care and free buses by taxing wealthy New Yorkers.

Overcrowded cells. Unsanitary conditions. Limited access to food and water.

These are the conditions that ICE has created at 26 Federal Plaza, which eleven elected officials sought to expose. Instead, they were arrested.

They must be released right now — and inspectors let in.
Just now, 11 state and city lawmakers were arrested by DHS police on the 10th floor of 26 Federal Plaza after a hour of demanding access to the ICE lock up on the same floor. @thecity.nyc

We liberals are America!
I think it’s high time we take back the national narrative. For centuries Americans of all races, genders, religions, and abilities have worked to create a more perfect union, and we should shout from the rooftops that WE are America. Not these idiot white supremacist authoritarians.

Senate confirms 48 Trump nominees at once after GOP changed the chamber's rules
Frustrated by the stalling tactics, Senate Republicans moved last week to make it easier to confirm large groups of lower-level, non-judicial nominations. Democrats had forced multiple votes on almost every one of Trump's picks, infuriating the presiden...

Former BLS Commissioner: The BLS is not a politicized place at all. I saw no evidence that the staff is doing any anything else except their highly professional job. I'm very familiar with the processes behind this report, and I saw no evidence whatsoever that the numbers were unexpected

Fox: Let's talk about today's jobs number. The more you drill down on ot, the uglier it gets. One thing that leaps out to me, 360,000 fewer full-time jobs. What gives?

Fox: We expected to see job creation of 75,000 last month. Instead, just 22,000 jobs were added. The unemployment rate ticked up to 4.3%. That is a 4 year high. Investors dug a bit deeper into the numbers and saw things they clearly did not like. The S&P down 31 points, NASDAQ down 52.

Thinking about this today amid reports that federal datasets are disappearing on everything from disease to labor statistics to inflation.
While I'm definitely worried about the negative impacts of the next administration, I'm more worried about the cover-up of the impact data. Recall that Trump did everything he could to hide COVID data.

Dems. Wanna get your polling out of the gutter? Stop talking about redrawing house maps in blue states and do it. Go big. Don't match them seat for seat. Blow them out of the water. Then endorse Mamdani. You're welcome.

Stop the trump regime's roller coaster of unconstitutional tariffs
Text SIGN PRFLBC to 50409 — Congress must uphold its constitutional duty to impose tariffs and prevent the Trump regime from usurping this authority unlawfully. The Constitution explicitly grants Congress the sole power to "lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises." However, the President has ignored this limitation by announcing new worldwide tariffs of up to 40% on over a hundred countries without congressional approval. The U.S. Court of International Trade has already ruled that the President's attempt to impose unilateral, reciprocal tariffs is unconstitutional. Yet he persists, normalizing his lawlessness. These unlawful tariffs are directly harming American businesses and consumers. One company went from paying $5 million to $50 million per month in tariffs, leading to widespread layoffs. Consumers are being taxed through price hikes as the government has collected $22 billion in new tariffs, which are simply taxes on imports passed to consumers. Tariffs are causing job losses, inflation, and economic volatility. Congress must reassert its exclusive constitutional authority over tariffs. Allowing the President to violate the Constitution erodes the rule of law and system of checks and balances. Rein in this unlawful executive overreach by taking immediate action to block the President's unilateral imposition of tariffs worldwide. Uphold your sworn duty to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
