I hate talking about myself, but I’m not a bot, so I guess I should write something here?

LSG 4 ever!
Actual dinner conversation:
FIL: “I gave those deer to that Guatemalan chicken farmer who lives down by Jimmy’s.”
MIL: “The one who got shot at?”
FIL: “He lucky they missed.”
MIL: “Now, did they shoot at him before they killed that man at the ranch?”

The Eastern Shore is wild, y’all.

Today is World Kindness Day.
It can be holding a door open for someone, offering a seat on the bus, or simply checking on the people who have been a part of your life's story.
Steve Burns took us on learning adventures & yet came back to check on us later.

Started watching MURDERBOT and now I don't wanna go to work, I just want to watch MURDERBOT, which is pretty much the plot of MURDERBOT.

Thanks to Paws and Claws Animal Encounters in Bremen, Ohio, for making my birthday purr-fect! My experience with Forest and Canyon, their 7-month-old bobcat kittens, was 100x better than I had hoped. Next time I’ll bring you more wool hats to steal, boys!

I timed my vacation to be home for Election Day, got Subway on the way to my polling place, and did my due diligence before voting. Feeling socially responsible ;)

Hey @martharichart.bsky.social , I’m so proud of myself for recognizing your style while jet lagged and barely conscious! That’s a good thing, right?

Chimp trekking in a downpour in Kibale National Park, #Uganda. Slipped once and ruined my pants for the rest of the trip, nearly lost a boot in the mud, soaked to the skin with rain and sweat, but oh-so-worth it.

Breakfast on the patio in Entebbe, trying to ID which noises are birds and which might be monkeys. Merlin only has sound IDs for 15% of the birds in Uganda, so I think I’m going to be screwed on IDs for this trip.

Waiting at the gate for my connection to Doha, and at first glance at my fellow travelers, my pasty, unseasoned ass is going to be a distinct minority on the flight. Excellent!

It annoys me when I make plans while significantly recovered from a cold, assuming that the symptoms will continue to improve, and the day of the plans arrives and I have a copiously runny nose and cough. No trivia night at a crowded bar for me, regardless of masking by me or anyone else.

Got my visa for Uganda today, and my trip starts in less than a month. This is starting to feel real!

I am jealous if all the migratory bird action @skwinnicki.bsky.social has been getting recently, so I trundled over to my local migratory bird stopover swamp and found …
Yellowlegs. That’s it. Everything else was a year-rounder. Ever try to snap a wading bird on a phone? Not ideal.

Japan has a wrestling camp for kids where at the end they have a show match in front of their parents to show off what they learned.

Thought you'd enjoy this.

Today’s temporary finish:
Quilting on my kiddo’s homage to Monty Python’s killer rabbit, not sure of kiddo’s age when it was drawn but maybe 7? 8? This was posted on our tv room door for the better part of a year.

You know the OTC topical pain reliever is Serious Business when it comes with a dosage card to squeeze it onto so nobody overdoses by just slathering that gel everywhere.

Here she is, the first of my kiddo’s drawings to finally get the quilting done. The embroidery (of tracings of the kid’s artwork over the years) has been done for years, but for some reason I chose to start quilting with the most recent drawing. Anyway, loving the collaboration!

As someone who is usually pretty healthy, having to deal with Achilles tendinitis is like “chronic pain training for babies.” Why yes, I am scheduling my day entirely around when I can take pain meds, which errands I can do without walking more than 100 feet, and how often I need to ice things down.

So does anyone have a trick for removing chalk marks from under hand quilting? Because after taking this photo I finished the hand quilting on the top half of this block, and those green chalk lines are not washing out. Used soap and water and a small rubber brush.
