It was great to join friends and colleagues in the @foescot.bsky.social bloc at Scotland’s Climate March in Glasgow today.

As governments, NGOs, and lobbyists meet in Brazil for COP30, people here and around the world are demanding climate action and justice!

These pay rises are a slap in the face at a time when local services are being cut and many staff are struggling on low pay.

The pay disparities between council CEOs and frontline workers are huge. We should be narrowing the gap, not expanding it.

The lack of a coherent transition plan is creating unnecessary job losses and low public confidence, and our communities are losing out.

Four years ago the Scottish government committed to co-design just transition plans, but since then, nothing. We need action.

Last night I attended Queer Folks’ Tales at the Lemon Tree - part of Aberdeen Queer Arts Festival.

I’m very proud of my friend Matt who did his first performance at this great event. He absolutely rocked it. All the performers were brilliant.

The Scottish Government's new climate plan is dreadful.

Ministers have decided not to help people who are struggling to pay their energy bills, communities cut off by unreliable buses, or oil workers worried about their future.

I’ve never been a fan of Bonfire Night (try growing up with a name like mine!).

For our firefighters things are a lot worse. This time of year highlights the impact of cuts our politicians voted through.

Instead, we should appreciate our firefighters by investing in them.
Bonfire night is one of the busiest shifts of the year for firefighters.

But the fire service is facing it without adequate resources. Despite a rising number of fires, year-on-year cuts have left us with one in five fewer firefighters.

We need to see serious investment and an end to cuts.

The wind belongs to all of us. We should all have a stake in our energy future. 🧵

Ending poverty should be a priority.

No child should go without, especially when billionaires exist in the world.

Tax wealth. Now.
As things stand, child poverty is on track to reach record highs by 2029-30.

By then, we predict that more than one-in-three British children (34 per cent) would be growing up in poverty.

That's the highest rate of child poverty we'd have seen since 1961 ⤵️ buff.ly/qVc9CWs

We need to end the epidemic of domestic violence.

Petrofac has had problems over a number of years. The shallow understanding of the industry shown by Swinney and Lumsden doesn’t help Petrofac staff.

What would help is a real, worker-led transition plan that creates opportunities for anyone who does lose their job.

Right now, 1,816 council homes lie empty across Aberdeen.

Approx 6,654 households are on Aberdeen’s housing list. ACC could reduce this by up to 27%, reducing homelessness.

Thats why @houstinium.bsky.social and I joined other Living Rent members in calling for action.
