The UK has some of the worst workers’ rights in the western world. This is the result of political choices: governments wanted to keep workers weak, and pay low, to benefit the super-rich.

Now, for the first time since the 1980s, anti-union laws have been scrapped and union rights extended.

Firefighters are constantly exposed to extreme heat, toxic smoke and chemicals, and traumatic incidents.

But underfunding, cuts to crews, and the increasing threat of climate related incidents are putting firefighters' lives at risk.

The FBU are demanding urgent investment in the fire service.

Buckinghamshire fire service is already overstretched, having lost over a third of its firefighters since 2010.

Now the service are proposing to:
❌Remove 7 retained fire engines
❌Close 2 fire stations

These plans will worsen response times and put public and firefighter safety at risk.

Storm Bram brought 90mph winds and over 300 flood warnings across the UK this week.

Firefighters carried out rescues, but England's fire services have no statutory duty to respond to floods. No duty means no funding.
