Unpopular musical opinions #3: Dark Side Of The Moon was always a pretty average album, and now it just sounds awfully dated. An honourable exception is Money, which is a banger touched with genius, but most of the rest of it is dreary, pompous, overblown dirge.

Absolutely gone at this story from Harris on FB, the last sentence is pure Atlantic coast magic.

I’ve always had a bad DNF (did not finish) habit. I’d love to take comfort from the idea that it’s a sign of a discerning mind. Trouble is my DNF habit has turned into a DNS (did not start) habit.

Got to admit I prefer the Electric Nebraska versions of Atlantic City and Johnny 99. And I prefer the Electric Nebraska version of Born In the USA too. Makes you wonder how great it could have been if Bruce had made one album rather than two. #springsteen

There’s a fairly reasonable chance that, if you look around, you’ll spot something purple right now. (I did – it’s a massive pillow.) Purple absolutely definitely exists. You apologise to Alice Walker, right now!

So - exactly why is it the internet thinks the colour purple does not exist?
Some notes on the non-existence of purple
The colour light forgot.

Sam Fender is a deserving winner of the Mercury Music Prize. If you’re not sure, have a listen to this, which is one of the very best musical podcasts I’ve heard.

I think I might write a book called Printernomics. Or Inkonomics.
Has anybody written a piece on how odd it is that it's sometimes cheaper to buy a new printer with free ink than buy more ink for your existing one?

Word of the day is ‘tamalou’: a French name for an older person who no longer greets their friends with ‘how was your holiday?, but with ‘t’as mal où ?’, ‘where does it hurt?’. There follows an enthusiastic account of aches and pains and doctor’s appointments.

Unpopular musical opinions #1: Prince was a pretty good writer of middle-of-the-road pop-rock songs. He wasn’t funky, his rhythms were leaden, and over his career he underdelivered on his extensive musical talents.
