They're not "now moving on to..." Folks with #disabilities have been at the top of the hit list since Trump took office. It's not a contest—the cuts to USAID are monstrous and bigoted—but I want to point out that they saw it coming, warned us, and were mostly ignored. bsky.app/profile/novi...

This is absolutely terrible news.

With the shifting regulatory climate (i.e., antivax ratfuckery), Moderna has withdrawn their application for their eagerly anticipated COVID-flu combo vaccine. This vaccine offered better protection than getting each shot separately.

They gutted CDC, FDA, NIH, HHS. They know this will kill people.

And they did it on April Fool’s day, like it’s a joke to them.

😡!
NEW: The CDC has been gutted this morning. Thousands of CDC employees who worked on things like preventing HIV and lead poisoning have been told they were subject to a reduction in force. Experts say people will die.

Almost every federal employee makes 10-25% less than the private sector equivalent. Feds work for the government because it’s how they serve their country.

Everyone reading this page must play a role in stopping the madness. Today I want to focus on some hard work with family/friends. We all have people we love who voted for Trump. Many have been sucked in by lies and misinformation. I know it feels hopeless, but we need you to talk to them.

Long 🧵.

President Trump is preparing to sign an order that would instruct Education Secretary Linda McMahon to begin dismantling the Education Department, setting the stage for a potential power struggle with Congress and another round of legal challenges from opponents.
Trump Is Said to Be Preparing Order That Aims to Eliminate Education Dept.
Without Congress, President Trump cannot dismantle the agency. No modern president has ever tried to unilaterally shut down a federal department.

If, for example, Trump says nobody is allowed to dance, on penalty of death, he has no legal power to make that declaration and no power to enforce it, but if everyone stops dancing it's as good as if he did. Reporting as though Trump has these powers helps give him those powers.

I've said it before and will say it again -- the Trump administration is not acting like one that fears democratic accountability next year or in 2028. Draw your own conclusions.
it's still just striking to me that we're five weeks into this, and neither trump nor musk are offering up any treats, to anyone. everything is bad news. everything makes life harder. the only thing they're offering is a tax cut for *extremely* wealthy people, at the expense of *everyone* else.
