Colleen Wilcox said teaching is the greatest act of optimism. I appreciate the sentiment, but I do not naturally lean toward optimism.

Hope, however, I am always clinging to. But hope is not bright and shiny, it's a desperate kind of faithfulness. I will keep teaching because I am hopeful.
I need an emergency episode of @fivefourpod.bsky.social where @aywarhiannon.bsky.social @notalawyer.bsky.social and @fleerultra.bsky.social just spend 45 minutes making Donald and Bubba jokes. It could heal my soul.

I wasn't quite due for a Tdap booster and I probably didn't really need an MMR booster. But with RFK Jr at the helm of HHS, I am not taking chances with vaccine access.

Happy Easter! Just a reminder that the Savior was a radical, brown skinned, socialist who was persecuted for his subversion of power structures.

Booker is on track to erase and replace a historical record (from segregationist Storm Thurmond) at a time when we have an administration trying to erase the real history of this country. Lots of things matter. Symbols among them.

I voted today for offices that matter. Strong local governments are important when fighting fascism. I'm getting used to being distraught in election outcomes, but I'm still hopeful great local candidates could win today.

Hamilton was my Broadway soundtrack for the first Trump term. This time it's Les Mis.

Take from that what you will.

I will vote for the first candidate who tells me they're going to make the biggest government possible. Reacher-sized agencies. Braun Strowman-level social benefits. Government so big it starts belching out National Parks and free healthcare. Chungus State.

The root that tears apart your foundation begins as a seed of distrust, hate, and blame.

The seed that grew into a dictatorship in Europe didn’t arrive overnight.

It started with everyday Germans mad about inflation and looking for someone to blame.

General strikes are incredibly powerful, but scary for the individual! Knowing others are committed to a general strike helps assuage that fear. Check out generalstrike.us to voice your commitment. When 11 million or more commit, then the strike will be planned.

Even the most disturbing RFK Jr. headline always manages to have a detail inside creepier than you could have imagined. I’m sorry, did you just say Black kids should have a chance to get “re-parented”???? Gift link wapo.st/4hW2xGI

I love interacting with service workers, because I get to see the relief on their face when they realize I'm not going to be a problem. They get low-stress part of their day and I get to feel like a nice person. Win-win.
