Thank goodness.
Unfortunately, the big AI companies are going to force the government to pay for them through all the censorship and ID systems.
An M.I.T. study found that 95% of companies that had invested in A.I. tools were seeing zero return. It jibes with the emerging idea that generative A.I., “in its current incarnation, simply isn’t all it’s been cracked up to be,” johncassidysays.bsky.social writes.
The A.I.-Profits Drought and the Lessons of History
Like the steam engine, electricity, and computers, generative artificial intelligence could take longer than expected to transform the economy.

To Australians concerned about the under-16 social media ban, especially after seeing the effects of the UK's Online Safety, I emailed Electronic Frontiers Australia and they suggested contacting your local MP, senator, or to the minister behind it, Anika Wells.

Is this what's going to happen when Australia starts requiring a social media ban for under 16's on the 10th of December 2025?

I’m so excited for this to happen in Australia when our dogshit similar law is put into effect requiring all social media to Ban & Block under 16s this December!!!

I’ll be daily driving a VPN from now on.
They want to censor us, they want to cut us off from the rest of the country. how long until VPNs stay standing? they want to quiet all the LGBT spaces. Oh but all the sites in the big leagues popular for spreading misinformation is going SO STRONG good for you guys!

I assume Australia will be blocked as well? Their social media ban has the same effect and was passed with identical intentions as Mississippi's law.
bsky.app Bluesky @bsky.app · Aug 22
Unfortunately, Bluesky is unavailable in Mississippi right now, due to a new state law that requires age verification for all users.

While intended for child safety, we think this law poses broader challenges & creates significant barriers that limit free speech & harm smaller platforms like ours.

I have never seen anything like this in NYC. 5th Ave covered from 42nd St well to the 20s. Nobody prepared for this volume. Volunteers are holding the traffic on all the side streets. No police in sight. #handsoff

Cops thanked us for how peaceful the events were and how volunteers helped direct protestors and car traffic smoothly. I am hearing the same for NYC: very peaceful and low police presence. This was a peaceful day of Americans exercising our rights.

Remember that.

Rather than strengthen our environment laws as promised, the Albo is trying to weaken them…so the rotten subsidised Salmon farmers can continue while the Maugean Skate faces extinction…and the fish are full of bacteria. Yuk

Don't gut our environment laws
The Government’s proposed environmental law changes are an attack on our democracy and could benefit destructive industries far beyond Tasmania’s coastal ecosystems.

The fact that Peter Dutton’s warning about leaks was itself leaked highlights the lack of respect & loyalty for him within the Coalition.

And it raises questions about his leadership - if Dutton doesn't have control of the party and can’t manage his own MPs, how can he run the country? #auspol
