Satya is about to find out just how much cultural sway the Microsoft CEO has
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella says people should move beyond calling AI 'slop'

"We need to get beyond the arguments of slop vs sophistication and develop a new equilibrium ... that accounts for humans being equipped with these new cognitive amplifier tools as we relate to each other"

Having Grok “apologise” for creating CSAM is like punching someone in the face and then having the Sooty puppet on your fist apologise.

Looks like X the everything app has blown past being 8chan and is now, effectively, K1wi F@rms
It’s cool that politicians and media still use it as their primary SM source and outlet.

Elon Musk’s chatbot has been “undressing” women and children in public. Journalists are letting xAI off the hook by pretending the bot is responsible.

The story illustrates how dangerous American commercial hegemony is to international order.

Looks like we will have our first 40 degree day later this week. Not looking forward to it.
I hate summer so much.

We really need legacy media to stop treating gAI as a smol bean
This is a thread of major media outlets falsely anthropomorphising the "Grok" chatbot program and in doing so, actively and directly removing responsibility and accountability from individual people working at X who created a child pornography generator (Elon Musk, Nikita Bier etc)

call me crazy but it really feels like “World’s Richest Man Creates AI Chatbot That Generates Child Porn” would’ve been a huge international outrage requiring a governmental crackdown not even 24 months ago

Personally, I think if he made those demands, got Sky to pay for them and ghosted them, that makes him a even bigger Aussie hero
Mark Calvert being so butt hurt he writes an essay about how Sky News’ chequebook is the real victim in all of this is the funniest and most embarrassing piece of Australian journalism in a long time.

This is the best description of politics in Australia too
Politicians are terrified of an electorate they think is far more authoritarian and angry and right wing than it actually is, because they are out of touch because the literal media - the thing that mediates between public and polity - is corrupted

I need Bryan to explain the chemical release that has prompted my feeling of revulsion at reading this. Or, better yet, not bother
I am begging everyone on here to read this new post by Bryan Johnson — the super rich tech guy who is now doing the “never die” protocol.

I need to talk about it with you all.

Again: they thought they’d win a shattering court victory with the Harry Potter lady’s money, then the public would rise up in gratitude, salute them as heroes and stomp all over transgender people on their behalf. That hasn’t happened, because the public mostly aren’t vicious cranks, like they are.

Went to the GP for a check up yesterday. GP, who also cycles, was surprised when I told him how much weight I can loose when on the trainer (up to 2kg). He was so surprised, I started doubting myself.

In all honesty, we really need a permanent Truth and Reconciliation Commission with a broad mandate covering institutional racism more than we need a narrowly focused RC.

I said this as a sardonic joke but in reality, we need to be making sure fewer people are armed than giving the right to carry guns to more of them.
Looking forward to every identity group getting its own militia

That this is happening makes me so sad because I know I never could have gotten through University if I had to write everything in class on paper in person. I was simply too disabled. Trying to stop AI usage in classrooms (understandable) is going to disproportionately impact disabled students.
