I love how the orthodox answer to all policy problems in the English-speaking world is “moar capitalism”
You have to marvel at the ability of News Ltd pubs who can see a tide of people acting against the News Ltd line and conclude that it is all of them that are wrong

All of this and not a single cent of funding towards community based deradicalisation programs, support groups for families of radicalised people, harm reduction, anti-racist and respectful relationships programs in schools etc. State oppression is apparently the only answer.

The X situation is an excellent example of the perils of neoliberalism. The state has become so beholden to a private service provider for public service announcements, they're resorting to equivocation on responsibility for CSAM and violent misogyny on that platform rather than risk losing it.

One thing you notice about the reaction to the Adelaide Festival board uninviting Dr Randa Abdel-Fattah is that the cancellations came out over time and came with various individual explanations. Compare and contrast that to the form letter complaints.

I think we could all make a shopping list of things that RC should consider. On the top for me is the role international antisemitism, fed by X, Meta and YouTube and and certain traditional media, contributes to Australian cultural climate. Next would be the role of brigading campaigns.

Australian politicians are condemning X and Grok, so why won’t they leave the platform?

It's funny, my LinkedIn feed has been full of posts about cultural cohesion etc for some time, but particularly from Bondi. There was one a couple of days ago complaining about the Cathy Wilcox cartoon.
Just wandered over there, not one post about the Adelaide festival.

Apparently we have to destroy the arts to save them. Though as we all know by now after more than a decade of hostile arts policy, what "we" want is a culture with no memory, no freedom and no conscience, endless reruns of a starveling so-called western canon, background noise for the suits
