Man, I just don't know how anyone gets over the GLARING reason not to use Generative AI for writing & visuals: It's non-consensual training on artists' work, environmentally devastating impact (esp. on poor areas) & it being pushed by the worst people in the world combined w/the pointlessness of it.

Just a reminder that there's a #BloodBowl Season 3 tourney in the Essex/Cambridge area on 7th December. We have 17 signed up so far and room for 30 players.
My buddy Mr_Frodo has decided to) run a Season 3 #BloodBowl tourney on 7th December, hoping that the rules will actually come out prior to that date!

If you're in the Essex/Cambridge area, come along and join in. We'll learn the new rules together!

Reading was central to my happiness as a kid. Didn’t grow up in a household with books but had an amazing local library with wonderful librarians, a safe place where I also did arts and crafts and other things I didn’t at home. Libraries should be at heart of any campaign to get more kids reading
Given that so many of the gatekeepers of books - publishers, librarians, teachers etc - were bookish children themselves, it takes an act of imagination to think about pleasure for those who don't come to it easily. For kids who don't naturally immerse deeply in text. #UKKidLit #KidLitUK

Saturday 25th October we're performing the 1616 text for Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlowe and his many (occasionally posthumous) friends. Following that is our season panel discussing the Wyrd in the early modern, the plays we're covered and more - but who are these wonderful panellists?

We’re looking for some cover artists/designers for a couple of upcoming projects! But you gotta be real.
•No AI
•We have no interest in anime-style work, sorry

We need someone comfortable illustrating plants and animals (especially birds).

Please reply with a way to see your portfolio.

Seeing the Bill Watterson originals full of pencil lines of stuff that didn’t work, scuffs the eraser didn’t pick up, white out galore and more was something I needed to see to remind myself that nothing is perfect the first go and tweaks need to be made and you’re allowed to try again.

So many people don’t clock that regulating porn online automatically gives permission to governments & surveillance capitalism to demand that literally everything else must prove it is NOT porn…ie, permission to probe and violate and regulate EVERYTHING
You can't legally censor consensual "porn" without simultaneously creating the mechanism for the censorship of books and movies and education and activism and mutual aid.

The access we have to resources today — repro rights, LGBTQ+, sex ed— is directly tied to the legalizing of 'porn'

NEW: X has started rolling out it's end-to-end encrypted chat for all users.

I was invited to start using it yesterday, so I asked a couple of experts if users should trust it. The answer: no, nobody should trust it at this point.

There are several reasons why, which they explained to me here.
