They could keep all commercial flights in the air by instead grounding private jets. Harming airlines and regular flyers is a choice.

I will also add:

I can do this for evictions in Illinois too, if SNAP benefits being cut off or the government shutdown means you can't make rent.
If you're arrested in Illinois for the means by which you acquire food for your family because of the government shutdown or loss of SNAP benefits, I can represent you pro bono. Email me at sheryl@weikallaw.com. As always, I will take as many cases as I can.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

Let's be perfectly clear here: the people who could actually stop the administrative coup of the U.S. government are any given half dozen Republican senators and representatives, if they had any courage at all.

When I was a Hill staffer in 2009, a Dem trifecta was trying to pass universal healthcare. In response, Senate GOP released a memo detailing all of the tactics they in the minority could use to delay the effort as much as possible. I'm recirculating that 2009 GOP memo here. Take inspiration from it.

I'm glad that America is doing real classic end of empire stuff. A king who is visibly losing his mind declaring a war based on a dream he had. Greedy courtiers feuding over access to the treasury. Some looks are timeless.

Have you ever gotten up to go do something, walk into the next room, and totally forget what you were there to do?

That's DOORWAY EFFECT, a well-studied phenomenon where crossing a boundary subconsciously shifts our focus from short-term memory to a state of alerted awareness.

Yesterday, I misread the significance of this late change to GA election rules. It's not about slowing things down. It's about forcing a rapid hand-count of ballots on election night, likely to generate "errors" to be cited as "evidence" of a rigged election. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...
Pro-Trump Georgia election board votes to require hand counts of ballots
Critics plan to sue, saying the new requirement would almost certainly lead to errors and could disrupt the process of certifying the vote in a crucial battleground state.
