I wonder what the acquisition of Codership by #MariaDB means for XtraDB cluster? Will Percona keep improving and supporting Galera on #MySQL? I think this is a really crappy move by MariaDB to stifle competition.

It is a deeply personal album from Shatner; I listen to it now and then, always enjoying.
The best version of "Common People" hands down

My current cat is the second best cat ever. He has a few flaws but I love him so much.
Many of us have been lucky enough to love 💕 and eventually mourn 😰 a pet who was, for us, “the best dog (or cat or [fill in] ) ever.” This is an obit we can all have tried to write ✍️ ourselves . . .

The Oblivion remaster is 73% downloaded. I can't play until after work anyway. Still looking forward to some nostalgic adventures.

VGHF's video game trade magazine scanning is unearthing some gems, like this 2000-era double-page ad for the never-shipped Half-Life for Dreamcast. (And looks like the publisher registered gameoftheyear dot com specifically for Half-Life? Bold!)

I am but a humble cable news host with a bachelor’s in philosophy, but I feel like at some point the bond market is also going to notice that the GOP is going to pass a deficit financed 5 trillion dollar tax cut. Maybe?

I still can’t figure out when “we can deport you” turned into “we can put you in a hell hole prison in a third country, indefinitely, with no legal recourse.”

The 80s and 90s were great, and I don't care what anybody else thinks. Were there bad things? Sure. But lots of things were great too. I think the Internet ruined life for everybody overall and the 80s were better when not everyone had a cell phone.
I have gone back and read about the 80s and 90s and they were not good. they were really bad, actually. it's kind of a cliche that things get better as time moves forward but it really did get better as time moved forward holy shit

(because people took it upon themselves to change)
I will say this until I die: You long for the "good old days" because you were too stupid to understand what was actually going on back then.

Phantasy Star IV turned 30 years old in North America this month, so, for @pastemagazine.bsky.social, I wrote about why it didn't end up a hit like the classic contemporaries it was just as good as, and that plot twist it therefore doesn't get enough credit for. Unlike the megahit Final Fantasy VII.
30 Years Ago Phantasy Star IV Pulled Off Final Fantasy VII's Big Plot Twist First
Phantasy Star IV came too late to be a hit in the 16-bit era, which is a shame: it's a fantastic RPG crucial to the genre's emotional growth.

I often think about how the main non-occult antagonist of the first Ghostbusters movie was a guy who worked at the Environmental Protection Agency, & it was just taken as read that we'd all boo a guy who was a threat to freedom loving Americans' god given right to store nuclear waste in Manhattan
