I just left the Everglades Immigrant Interment Camp. No, I’m not using their ridiculous name. It was a very tough to witness humans in those cages. Every Floridian should be ashamed that our taxpayer money is being used for this.

in my culture and YA lit class, we talked a lot about how people and their government are not the same

there are good people everywhere, under every government, they outnumber the bad ones

but power tends toward asymmetry

a hallmark of YA is it asks big questions & lets you have big conversations
If you haven't seen this, it's worth the time to watch. Iran isn't our enemy, it's a beautiful country filled with amazing people. Americans can identify being a nation with a kind and open majority ruled by an absolute dickhead government

ICE's increasingly aggressive tactics are unacceptable and dangerous. They do not make us any safer.

I’m calling for an independent investigation right now — this abuse of power must end.

David Archuleta, who performs at this weekend’s Utah Pride Festival, is far from the only Latter-day Saint to come out as queer. His mom and other LDS parents explained why they no longer believe in a heaven that excludes their queer children.
David Archuleta’s mom left the LDS Church after her son came out. These parents stayed, but not without difficulty.

Pride is a celebration. Pride is also a powerful statement about courage, community, and determination.

We honor the trailblazers who came before us, join arms with those leading the fight for equality today, and empower the next generation to live boldly, freely, and with joy.

2 elderly women wearing head shawls were just attacked in the Edgemont third ward’s back parking lot. My 9 year old witnessed the assailants running away laughing. They called the police; we are also going to call in a report.

So cool.
Fascinating world of ancient #glass: an amazing #Roman glass jug with a smaller glass jug inside – a so-called joke-jar that shows the skill of the glassmaker. Probably made in workshop in Cologne, found in a grave in Stein am Rhein, #Switzerland, 4th c. AD.

Adopt a chick?
Thousands of chicks that spent three days in a U.S. Postal Service truck in early May have overwhelmed a Delaware animal shelter, frustrating the hatchery that had shipped them to various farms, the shelter and hatchery said.

I’m under a heavy blanket,
lying near a bank of windows with rain and roses looking in on me,
with the smell of old paper, wood, and leather through a nearby alcove.
There’s coffee somewhere, and chatter drifting down the long hall. It lulls me so well, this soft quiet.

All of the authors for HB 3225- a bill that will severely restrict minor’s access to library books in municipal libraries- voted against HB 168- a bill that seeks to end child marriage in Texas.

Who do you think poses a bigger threat to TX kids?

Library books or adults who marry children? 🤨
