If your Christianity causes you to be offended by someone asking the most powerful person in the country to be merciful towards the powerless, then you have profoundly misunderstood the teachings of Jesus Christ.

One of the most blatant forms of Christian hypocrisy in our time is Christians holding all the ordinary people we share this country with accountable to the most rigid moral standards while simultaneously holding their preferred politicians accountable to no standards at all.

A crazy amount of snow fell here in North Texas yesterday, so it's time to bring this out.

This seems like an excellent suggestion.
January 9th has been declared national day of mourning for President Jimmy Carter, take that day to do something for ones less fortunate then yourself in his honor

We attach a myth of invincibility to a few people each generation, to imbue us with some false hope that death isn’t quite as inevitable as we’ve been told.

When they pass, it lands a bit heavier. The myth is unveiled, the handshake agreement is broken, and we are all forced to see with clear eyes

The rest of the dream was nonsense but I can’t stop thinking about the last thing I said before I woke up:

What if we could not find joy
because we kept putting other things in front of our eyes

One of the inherent flaws in the heresy of Christian Nationalism is that it is built on an idolization of the past, rather than Christ's promise of the future.

Christ didn't come to conserve anything. He came to carry us into something new.

Christianity should sound like, "my beliefs continue to deepen my love for others," not "the depth of my love for others is contingent on how deeply they conform to my beliefs."

There is something so deeply hypocritical about claiming to follow Jesus who saved the world by laying down his life out of love for others then acting like the world can only be saved by forcing your own way and imposing your beliefs on others.

Dear Christian,

If your religion is really about “saving souls” then you wouldn’t ever demand for it to be legislated.

Because making someone follow your religion by force of law against their will is an extremely effective way to ensure they reject your God in their hearts.

If our Christianity causes us to say, “see how God can use King David even when he did horrid things!” to justify people in power we like instead of “Where is the prophet Nathan of our time who has been sent by God to call King David out for all his horrid actions?!” we need new theology.
