We spent a year investigating billionaires for @washingtonpost.com.

We found: the wealthiest 100 Americans gave $1.1 billion to influence the 2024 elections — 140x more than they did in 2000. And almost all of that giving boosted Republicans.

Tulsi Gabbard revoked the clearances of 37 people yesterday: they “weaponized intelligence” by claiming Putin preferred Trump, she says.

The only problem is…there’s video of
Putin saying he wanted Trump. Here it is, along with a quick explainer of the latest bullshit in the Gabbard Files saga.

Trump's hopeless tariffs confusion, explained by a historian

“He wants the society of the 1950s with the policies of the 1890s. But you literally don’t get the society of the 1950s without a comprehensive rejection of the policies of the 1890s, even by Republicans."

As we celebrate this 4th of July, we must remember why we celebrate. It was on this day that our nation declared independence from a mad king who abused his power and the people of this land.

Just as in 1776, these grievances remain just as relevant today. Because in America, there are no kings.

This war looks like it should end up being called the “Bullshitzkrieg,” because at this point, it pretty much seems to have been performative on all sides, especially on Trump’s. We should be grateful for that, but … WTAF.

It is hard to conceive of a more anti-American policy choice for US innovation and prosperity in the 21st century.
There are 2 previous historical cases of countries destroying their science and universities, crippling them for decades: Lysenkoism in the USSR and Nazi Germany. The Trump administration will be the 3rd.
It's not just budgets but research, institutions, expertise, and training the next generation.
