I’m so glad that most of the internet is dependent on two companies. Taking something built to be decentralized and then centralizing it was such a smart way to handle things.

all the obvious external factors aside, my biggest problem with generative "AI" is that it's not being used to free up creators, unleash their potential, open up new avenues of expression the way it was advertised. it's being used to skimp on labor costs, cut corners, and maximize efficiency.
Why am I so against generative AI in games?
Because I simply do not want my initial reaction to art to be one of suspicion and scrutiny, AI slop is fundamentally damaging my relationship to art and artistry, and I am deeply resentful that it is forcing me to be guarded when I should be wowed.

So like. If I made a podcast under Creative Commons, is there any reason I couldn’t host the audio files on archive.org? I figure if I do archive.org for audio files and an RSS feed on the site I already pay to host, I can do a podcast for basically free, right?

I’m as surprised as anybody to find myself liking macOS less and iPadOS more lately. I never thought I’d be an iPad person, but I’m starting to feel like my setup going forward might just be a decent iPad that can SSH into a Linux machine as needed

Listen I know how this sounds to cis people but the rise in popularity of gender reveal parties maps pretty directly to increased trans visibility. They are a reactionary impulse to further entrench and enforce the gender binary by setting expectations for the child before they’re even born.
