Happy Friday Blue-Skiers. 💙 First post since landing yesterday & making the slow migration over. A TV/unscripted documentaries bod with a broad church of interests but I also like to post about #running #parkrun #ukrunchat #runchat #runner
This is such incredibly tragic and shocking news. A young experienced runner who had done all the marathon training. I cannot imagine what his wife and family must be going through. Sending love 🧡🙏

This is absolutely nuts

Trump did incite the January 6 riot. Splicing a video to make that point is shoddy editorial but hardly a resignation event

Whilst US tech bros like Nvidia visit with Trump to push AI infrastructure into the UK - little consideration or mention of their massive draining data centres expanding ever outwards & the effect on an already overheated world...the climate is now so far down the pecking order, it's frightening.

To those with dormant accounts still on Twitter/X - with Musk supporting and generally stirring up things at yesterday's far-right march, I'd say now is a good time to deactivate and delete forever...

Brilliant piece by Ian Dunt ...👇

..."Outside the station were the fascists. A small army of them, nearly every one holding a flag they do not understand and a symbol they do not deserve to stand under. A great swell of entitlement, and hatred, and cultivated victimhood"
The far-right is in its pomp. We will have to fight for our values like never before.

The actual group moving most strongly to Reform are male Gen X-ers. We need more articles on how to deal with them.
Shot, chaser

Young men more likely to vote Green than Reform. Young men second most progressive group of any demographic. Combined right-wing vote barely bigger than Green vote alone for young men

If Farage wins the next election, it will be down to one person. His name is Keir Starmer.
This thread explains why.
1. Destroying faith in democracy. The UK decisively voted out the Tories, only for Starmer to give us a Continuity Tory government, shamefully beholden to economic power.

If you vote Reform you will be voting against women’s equality, for more harassment in the workplace and beyond (as if there isn’t enough)

Remember 41% of the Farage Foot Soldiers arrested in last summer’s disgraceful riots had already been REPORTED FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE

Starmer and Cooper have left Shabana Mahmood in a truly unconscionable position here.

In the current climate leaving this particular mess for a Muslim Home Secretary to tackle is awful. If she changes course she’ll be a global hate figure – US and UK far right would never give her any peace.
The Metropolitan Police have released updated figures for yesterday's protest by people holding signs saying "I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action"

857 people were arrested "for showing support for Palestine Action" and 33 for other offences, including 17 for assaults on police officers
