WAKE UP DEAD MAN may be my favorite KNIVES OUT movie. It is wildly ambitious, with Rian Johnson using the structure & pleasures of a locked door mystery to say something about the state of faith in America right now.
That something? People should choose mercy & grace instead of rage and vengeance.

The heist, "caught on film", had texture and warmth and an indescribable aura of authenticity that it would have lacked had it been shot with digital cameras.

a lot of people don't know that the original harry potter manuscript was scrawled on the walls of a public bathroom while jkr hunched in the corner sniffing sharpies and screeching at everyone who entered to show her their labia

Importantly, this wouldn't have passed without Dem support. There was enough of a split within Republican ranks that if Dems had voted against the bill it would've been doa. Giving Trump a blank check to warmonger *and* passing an anti-trans measure was a choice.
115 Democrats just voted to codify the first federal trans segregation law.

The Frozen movies will always feel really weird because the obvious arc of the story is that Elsa gets a girlfriend but Disney are cowards so the story is currently "After learning she can accept her magic and she doesn't have to be alone Elsa decides to leave everyone to live alone in an ice cave."

All of this money spent on this study and not a single mention of things that might keep people away: disruptive audience behavior, increasingly poor technical presentation, every shrinking theatrical windows (or day and date indies). I love theaters, and go multiple times a week, but it’s grim.

A spin off from her birth to her death would be so perfect to show the stages of the Fall and the division of Númenor reflected on the one in her family, and it'd be a perspective of the story from the pov of a character who's central to it and yet silent in the original material

It's really fascinating to see these guys suddenly get interested in anthropology now that their economic models are collapsing and destroying everything
