I have this feeling that there is a very large overlap in the Venn diagram of people who wouldn't wear masks during the early stages of covid because they said they "couldn't breath" and the people now wearing them as ICE agents and breathing just fine as they terrorize the U.S.A.

What if we as authors/actors/culture creators just--collectively decided that the NYT is no longer the paper of record? Stopped submitting books for review? Stopped giving interviews? Stopped using their pull quotes on our dust jackets and in our advertising? Stopped submitting op-eds?

This is terrifying in America. ICE agents are showing up masked—these abductions must stop. If you’re going to detain someone, show your face, present a warrant, and proper ID. Disappearing people from their families without evidence or accountability isn’t law enforcement—it’s state-sponsored fear.

The transition from the Information Economy to the Attention Economy has switched people from creating/organizing information (active) to reacting to multi-modal experiences (passive). It further mediates and disconnects people's lives, and straight up just wears people down.
This is why billionaire controlled social media is thriving. Although the content is shittier and less personalized and it's impossible to find out what your family is up to, between AI slop and reality, it's the golden era for chaos posting.
