Memorable line in a Glasgow pub where a Rangers fan was still insisting they could overtake Celtic in the league. “If you believe that,” his drinking buddy told him, “then yir clutchin’ at mair straws than a scarecrow playin’ wi’ himsel’.”

What’s with the English press and their Royal Family obsession? I remember Edinburgh Fringe performer Kate Robbins being introduced to Princess Anne at a charity event who asked her what she did. “I’m an impressionist,” replied Kate . “Do you have an exhibition on anywhere?” asked Princess Anne.

Kind of a vulnerable confession, but I think one thing I love about collecting books for my home library is that they’re really the only things that are just mine. My family isn’t interested in them, nobody touches them. They stay where I put them. I can’t say that about anything else, really.

During Covid lockdown, if you had family round on Christmas Day the police could force their way into your home and make them return to their own homes.
Does anybody know if this service is still available and, if so, do you have to book it?
