Here’s the full letter I originally sent to my local newspaper before they asked me to cut it down under 300 words.

We’ve now published the full version on our @strongtowns-carmel.bsky.social page. Feel free to borrow from it if you’d like to write your own letter to your community leaders. 👇

It's unreal that Republicans want to reverse the recent ban on trichloroethylene (TCE). We put so much of this deadly chemical into the environment that oceanographers can detect it in the most remote areas of the ocean.

Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying.

They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks.

Feiffer's work has been a delight to me at every age. I recall as a kid buying The Man in the Ceiling at City Lights. I would take breaks in the college library by reading Passionella, The Explainers… And it was a blessing that he continued to produce work into his 90s (e.g. his column for Tablet).

If big SUVs/pickups are too dangerous in cities and not just a space burden, then more $$$ parking permits aren't the answer. They shouldn't be granted permits at all. Never mind that their owners are already willing to pay a premium over smaller cars (which the government defrays with tax rebates).
Here’s an idea for better cities: Make owners of big SUVs & pickups pay more for parking permits.

That's what's happening in Montreal, the first North American city to try it.

In CityLab, I explored a novel way to fight back against car bloat. 🧵
