Have a much longer posting history under the same name on Tumblr
I (47) just described riding one of the last carousels to do the brass ring game as a child, and my wife (40) had no idea what I was talking about or where the idiom came from.

Why is my Following feed suddenly showing me a)posts out of chronological order and b) posts from people I don't follow?!

There are a lot of public figures who have basically given up and accepted Trumpism, whether or not they personally like it, and it's extremely important that we make those people pay

Turkey discourse is tired. I shall plant some other flags regarding the terribleness of Thanksgiving cuisine.

Mashed potatoes are inedible for reasons of texture.

Pumpkin and squash taste bad in any form.

The way I keep seeing large accounts talk about group DMs and chats on here makes clear that there is a huge cultural and psychological gap even between regular, active users of bsky and the people who literally never log off.

Fresh Fish (Un Dia en el Mercado) is available for 16 euros at a store in Spain right now, but thanks to Grampa Tariffs, they won't ship to the USA.

Letting insurrectionist senators sue over their phone records is just going to create an opportunity to introduce evidence of their roles in discovery, no?

The other reason I am upset that the Democrats caved is that the shutdown would *not* have continued indefinitely otherwise. After a November of no Thanksgiving and widespread food insecurity, Republican officeholders would be living every day in fear of literal lynch mobs and would quickly fold.

The Dem base wants the shutdown to continue because it’s the only time we’ve felt like our electeds were representing us: trying to squeeze the GOP instead of squeezing us to accept concessions; directing their anger at the Republicans instead of at their own voters for wanting them to resist

I can leave a voice message for @markwarner.bsky.social , but @kaine.senate.gov doesn't even let you do that after hours. What is the correct method to put their feet to the fire on a weekend?

A lot of "hot & spicy" versions of various processed foods are underwhelming. Noting for public benefit that Totinos "Hellfire" pizza rolls are legitimately hot.

Looking at the specific image chosen to put in their search bar, I really don't think National Sandwich Day is what Google is commemorating today.

I think the chances are nontrivial that stuff like the Gatsby-themed party were suggested by Vance because he and his fascist backers have concluded that grampa is bad for the cause, and they're trying to get him offed, which would also give them a pretext for further crackdown.

Both of these headlines are neutral and factual. The NYT and WaPo could run them if they saw their jobs as informing the country.

Isn't it fascinating how RFKjr will drum up panic about exposure to all of those unnatural chemicals except for the ones where there's actual evidence of harm.
An EPA report found that the forever chemical PFNA interferes with human development and likely causes damage to the liver and male reproductive systems.

The agency has sat on the report for months. “Scientifically, it was done,” said one scientist.
Scientists Completed a Toxicity Report on This Forever Chemical. The EPA Hasn’t Released It.
Agency scientists found that PFNA could cause developmental, liver and reproductive harms. Their final report was ready in mid-April, according to an internal document reviewed by ProPublica, but the ...

"Beyond a reasonable doubt" would be relevant if people were trying to send Platner to prison. But they're trying to send him to Congress, and "there is 1% chance he is a Nazi" more than meets threshold not to do that, even if there weren't other derogatory factors.

Mayonnaise is one of the most disgusting ostensibly edible substances known to man. The smell is enough to drive me from a room; ingesting anything using it is a 100% reliable emetic.

Some sort of mass delusion is rampaging across my feed.

Possibly because I have never had (or desired) any involvement with agriculture, the primary connotation of "pest" to me is "nuisance," not "threat", and it is always puzzling to me how we ended up with the phrase "sex pest" to describe people whose offenses are often fairly serious.
