i DEEPLY hate the term. it's patronizing, it's a stupid euphemism, it plays into the transphobic notion that cis people are humoring us, it's epistemological oppression to avoid saying the word trans, 90% of the shit cis people do isn't called "gender affirming", etc

I would say that among people I know the primary two positions are "freak out" and "ignore this" and you will be shocked to know i think neither of those are the right move, but both are understandable. I think this is worth closely monitoring, without losing your shit over it.

(inspired by finding the only file in a folder called "AWP LA")
