Scathing article about the techno-optimists' self-own. I wish Trump never happened but I hope VCs suffer.
Big Tech Backed Trump for Acceleration. They Got a Decel President Instead
Effective accelerationists didn’t just accidentally shoot themselves in the foot. They methodically blew off each of their toes with a .50 caliber sniper rifle.

As someone who spends a lot time thinking about the values I want to teach my kid (besides PLEASE DON’T EAT DIRT), the thing I keep coming back to is this: I want him to believe that the strongest, bravest thing he can do is give a shit about other people—especially ones who aren’t like him at all.

Good to know we can continue to have the same position on Substack as we did before. Seeing more of @ghost.org these days.

Man-in-the-middle attacks on Public WiFi networks haven't been a realistic threat in a decade. Almost all websites use encryption by default, and anything of value uses HSTS to prevent attackers from downgrading / disabling encryption. It's a non issue.
They are useful to prevent man in the middle attacks where someone uses a pineapple to spoof a public wifi signal.

Record demand but wholesale prices remained negative due to the grid being 96% renewables. Pretty cool 😎

Retail prices are stubborn but that's due to factors like distribution, and daytime rates are in fact low now (21c/kWh for me) but morning and afternoon peaks remain expensive.

Being reminded how reprehensible Gina Reinhart is quite frequently these days.

Cutting public servants to spend more money on contractors and consultants is a brain dead move.

This is the perfect summary of the week. The politics of politics has really amped up lately. I like the integration of the "enshittification" story too.

The social media bill is inevitable due to polling but completely unworkable and a waste of time.
Parliament delivers a performance piece of legislative 'enshittification' that raises more questions than answers
Yesterday, parliament heard that the major parties will come together and pass a law banning teenagers from social media, after a period of careful thought roughly commensurate with that of a 15-year-...

I've given #GNX 3 listens now. I really like it, it's a very different Kendrick album that just feels more fun and loose, even though the themes are dark. It takes that west coast sound and goes so hard. Mr Morale didn't really do it for me and I can see myself coming back to this more.

RecipeTinEats is not only the best recipe site on the entire internet, it's the best expression of what "Australian food" is. Our food is everyone's food.

I often just open the front page and pick something to make and it's always good. Tonight was Spicy Firecracker Beef 🤌
