Why are pressures the only measurement in healthcare resistant to SI units! In the midst of Final FRCA revision and physiological pressures are measured in mmHg, mechanical ventilation is measured in cmH20 and gases in kPa!

I want to see blood pressure as 16/11 kPa!

A LEGO #MRI set to help kids though a traumatic medical experience. 😭🥹
I had some early childhood medical trauma that still haunts me today. This would have helped. Kids are strong if we give them tools to understand.

I came to this country as a child refugee. No English, no certainty, no idea what my life could become. Britain gave me refuge.

Not on a timer, not with conditions attached, but with a chance to grow roots.

Anyone else really into how every episode of Alien: Earth ends with a 90s/early 00s rock classic? The way episode seven uses 'Song for the Dead' by Queens of the Stone Age has got me really pumped for the last episode!

I posted this before but it seems appropriate

In Germany, every kid learns in school how “it” was allowed to happen.

How seemingly “normal” people didn’t see “it” come

How “it” was normalised and suddenly “it” was there.

How “it” wasn’t spotted, how no one took a stand

How books burned

Working with a more junior anaesthetist who felt I used ketamine more than my colleagues.

I feel that in emergencies it is more forgiving than other agents (baring in mind its direct negative inotropic effects)

Any other ketamine enthusiasts or do I need to stop listening to EMCrit? #AnSky

@jeffgadsden.bsky.social I was wondering if you had any experience with ultrasound guided approaches for the GPN?

Putting a spinal needle near the carotid artery does not excite me and an approach described between mandible rami and styloid process seems reasonable…

Great editorial which outlines the variation in practice with regards to RSI.

Whilst it is one procedure, it is performed in a variety of patients for a variety of reasons, and like any "airway plan" we should verbalise what our components are going to be and any dynamic changes we predict. #AnSky

Interesting article showing innovative techniques in the face of scarcity.

But mainly appalling that the people of Gaza are unable to have basic analgesia such as opioids or sedation for their surgery!
Medical resource scarcity necessitates innovative approaches to healthcare. High-volume spinal anaesthesia #HVSA can substitute GA where access to ventilators, anaesthetic drugs and airway personnel is limited

did you think that labetalol is a single drug?

nope

it’s actually a mixture of FOUR different drugs

RS, RR, SS, and SR-labetalol

and this is clinically relevant!

lets discuss why…
