What's happening with the Chicago Public Libraries right now is terrible. The proposed budget of the city would CUT 89 CPL positions. Importantly, 78 positions were lost LAST year. That would be 167 positions in 2 YEARS while COPS KEEP GETTING MORE MONEY. ENOUGH. SAY NO.

If anyone needs a good art book that teaches how to draw fat bodies hit me up cause I have a great one
the low rate of fat representation in art as a whole, including as frequently taught in life drawing, is one of the factors by which fat folks are invisibilized.

I spent a lot of my life drawing stick-thin figures in my art because I was just as immersed in these unhealthy body-standards as anyone else. I've made an active effort these past few years to encompass a far wider spectrum of body-types. Embrace diversity in physicality, it is an act of rebellion.

art teachers: teach how to draw fatness! i had a teacher who professed that it was better to learn from thin models, and that’s true if you only ever wanna draw thin people, but guess what? fat people are also people and we will never be given the representation we deserve if “too complex” to teach.
Honestly, it's so much harder because nobody bothered to teach us. I've been making my characters fatter over time, and purposely making chubby characters just because it's a skill I want to have and a representation that I believe should exist

My personal “Don’t give to the Salvation Army” story:
When I was homeless in 2019, the Salvation Army shelter refused to give me a bed (even though they were available), because I was on immunosuppressant meds and they didn’t want to be responsible or liable if I got more sick or died on premises. They’d rather I die on the street.
It’s dinner time for the police. Appears to be pizza from a Salvation Army van.
