Additionally, AAA has to be engaged in this race to the bottom because their bloated budgets means they have to appeal to the broadest group of players. That leads to blander output that is inherently less interesting, so of course they have to deal with people getting bored of their work quicker

This kinda thing leads to massive overdevelopment of unproven concepts & wastes so much time and money because we wind up having to dedicate resources to things which just wind up not fitting and getting cut.
It's something I've seen over and over again and it frustrates my very scope-lead brain.
