A new #BMJInvestigation finds that thousands of locally employed doctors are trapped in insecure NHS contracts with no access to training, career progression, or national safeguards.

Experts warn that the NHS is effectively “behaving like a gig economy employer”

Claws grab my waist
Womb split open.
Despair,it creates
Earplugs that tighten
Shutting out reality
Screaming impostorism
There’s no possibility,
To academics-euphemism,
To be both disabled
And successful.
All along you needed
Them to be thoughtful:
It’s not a crime
To need time

And- spoiler alert- further data showing more frequent association of women-gendered terms with stigmatising and blaming language, often in contravention of good practice guidelines about professional usages.

Anyway- fab work @geekydr.bsky.social. It was a pleasure to meet IRL!

Fascinating! Also I refuse to use “childbearing age” 🤮
Extraordinary presentation at #asme2025 by @geekydr.bsky.social looking at the language in NICE guidelines. Why *is* it that 'women' needs to be mentioned 377 times in guidelines about intra-partum care but 'men' only 3 times in guidelines about prostatism? #GenderBias #MedEd 1/3

The #GenderBias continues with a plethora of terms codifying women by bodily functions (including the teeth-grindingly awful 'girls of childbearing age/potential') vs just 3 for men, none of which mention men's reproductive age/potential. C'mon @nicecomms.bsky.social , sort it out. 😵‍💫

(1/2)Having to explain to your parent as a #doctor and daughter what his diagnosis of carcinomatosis is feels like a bigger stab than anything I’ve ever had. Knowing what will happen, having known it was this but needing a confirmation because you hoped it would be ok, no one

Anyone else feel like everything is just very heavy of aching? The hurt around is sometimes too much #hypersensitive #ND #poetry
I just want to weep
But I am stood frozen
The hurt carving deep.
Perfectly chosen
My skin
So paper thin
Sipping
The pigment of sorrow

I’m sure this is on your radar.
£5.25? How does this buy expert wound management, instead of coffee and a biscuit?

Been shared this by one of our Yorkshire GPs.
@wesstreeting.bsky.social I might be a paediatrician but even I know that a PSA test costs £65-£120, so nowhere near £5.25. How are we expecting the screening of let’s say a third of the population to occur with only £5.25 per capita? #nhs
Can anyone explain how a GP can take on this “over and above” work for just over a fiver?

✨Neurodivergent✨

💭What people think they’ll see: lack of empathy, lack of imagination, poor eye contact

👀What they can actually see: lots of colour (I love wearing colours), masking ++ (I can read you well => that’s how I learn how to mask), bubbliness and creativity+++

Missed this at the time - such a thoughtful, measured & predictably wise piece from @pwhitakerwriter.bsky.social on assisted dying. www.newstatesman.com/politics/hea...
For assisted dying to work, GPs need to know their patients
Ending a life must be a choice made between alternatives; not one taken because of a failure to provide proper healthcare.

Watched Puss in Boots the last wish with my parents and forgot how much husband said I was like Perrito.

A bit sad but wouldn’t have it otherwise☺️

Sadder how the awful life in medicine and trade unionism has tried hard (and nearly managed) to change me #pussinboots @dreamworksanim.bsky.social
