Yesterday the Government announced UK medical graduates will be prioritised for NHS jobs in new legislation, which is a step forward in tackling the doctors’ jobs crisis.

UK medical graduates are to be given priority access to specialty training jobs in the NHS.

The proposals are a first step to resolving a much larger challenge but it's not enough to tackle the scale of the crisis of spiralling competition ratios, leading to many doctors facing unemployment.

The Government's Road Safety Strategy, announced today, is a welcome step towards improving public health. Any amount of alcohol impairs judgement and reaction times, and even modest reductions in blood alcohol limits have been shown to significantly reduce harm.
