Early @gamesground.bsky.social highlights: A great talk about #SensitivityReading!

Just like I keep saying with #CommunityManagement, it's more than a "niche add-on" to your development process.

No, there is a real business argument to be made about improving the overall quality of your game 🎮 📈

In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.
Not a shitpost: #NoKings is feel-good performative activism for comfortable mostly upper and upper middle class white folks and that’s good, actually. Millions of people in the streets protesting a fascist regime is good. It is good for the normie baseline to be massive displays of public dissent.

(I wish I had gotten a banner to hang out of my window, because, sadly, there's no protest in my town today.)

Sure hope that Netflix isn't doing anything disgraceful soon—I'm pretty much boycotting everyone else at this point. There is not much else I can do, but at least they're not getting my money.

I keep watching the WH press briefings out of curiosity (and to see what's going on as part of getting a better idea of the other side's information environment), and OMG, they've descended into a complete fantasy world. The spin is absolutely unreal—at least in the AP's yt chat no one is having it.

Thank you, @bcmerchant.bsky.social, for giving translators a chance to speak their piece. I see a lot of replies and QRTs along the lines of "I'm glad I didn't finish my translation degree" or "This is all I know, am I really doomed?", so allow me to share a few thoughts:
Since 2023, translators and interpreters have seen work dry up, rates plummet and their jobs reduced to editing AI-generated output. Some are leaving the field, others are considering bankruptcy. All despite any major upgrade in translation quality.

This is how AI is killing translation work:
AI Killed My Job: Translators
Few industries have been hit by AI as hard as translation. Rates are plummeting. Work is drying up. Translators are considering abandoning the field, or bankruptcy. These are their stories.
