Chronically ill, in my 30s. History, Poli-Sci, random other topics. I'll figure out a better bio later, so be nice.
Guess who successfully cooked a decent Thanksgiving meal despite barely being able to walk?

It's even passably healthy.

Every "liberal" I see posting deranged racism against Palestinians, glorifying violence against civilians, and promoting atrocity denialism also seems to be advertising their BlueSky accounts.

Really not a good sign.

Also noting that the war in Gaza will be a mass disabling event
“To all disabled people: Disabled Palestinian life is intrinsically valuable, just as Disabled Israeli life is.

We don’t have to know all the answers to know that this bombardment of Palestine must stop immediately.”

I'm losing a lot of respect for both leftists and liberals lately and I don't really know how to deal with that. I'm not gonna vote for the GOP, but man a lot of liberals are showing their subconscious racism and a lot of leftists are showing a mixture of antisemitism and stupidity.

something amazing about the fact that the congressman who was at the forefront of calling out george santos for pretending to be jewish has now made himself the arbiter of good and bad jews

I've pretty much lost all hope that the broad left can avoid the toxic rot that has consumed the right. The same cultish devotion is growing. The same contempt for dissent, even serious dissent. The same willingness to believe whatever suits their priors.

The rampant Islamophobia I am seeing from archaeologists who work in that region is... dear god. Y'all. We can see you. We won't forget that you said that genocide was the right choice. We can be against terrorism and murder and antisemitism and also, against hate. Peace is what we want, not death.

Palestinians living in Gaza are running out of clean water and will die from severe dehydration soon.

- Gazans are barely urinating due to a lack of hydration.

- Gazans are drinking water that is mixed with untreated wastewater and seawater.

Conflict isn't just in/around Gaza. This is the West Bank: forced depopulation of Palestinian villages & lethal settler violence against civilians (backed by IDF).

Inability to do anything a/b attacks is one of the many reasons that the PA has been losing cred.

Settlers take advantage of Gaza war to launch West Bank pogroms
Israeli settlers and soldiers have killed 51 Palestinians in the West Bank this past week, with two villages entirely depopulated after attacks.

Yesterday 4 Palestinians were murdered in Qusra in the West Bank by settler terrorists. Today, those same settler terrorists, with IDF cover, attacked the funeral for those victims. Killing two more people.

The IDF is explicitly supporting Jewish terrorism today.

It is equally horrifying to defend Hamas’ massacre and Israel’s decades long military occupation — but only one is normalized and mainstream.

The Gazan children who are dying under Israeli bombs deserve to be as close to our hearts as the Jews who were massacred - but they aren’t in our politics.

I really wish I'd remembered who Lyman Stone is, and that he works for a far-right think-tank with piss-poor standards, before trying to correct his erroneous ideas about IHL on Twitter. The man does not shut up, and he's so eager to whitewash war crimes with faux-intellectual posturing.

Looks like the rampant anti-Palestinian racism and incitement is taking over this site as well. I've blocked 4 accounts since logging on, I'd blocked one total prior to now. A lot of is the same old racist scripts used for decades, by people who no real ken of the issues.

The Editor-In-Chief of the Jerusalem Post is on Twitter glorifying and inciting violence against the people of Gaza, fully well knowing Israel will kill countless civilians to get the retribution he and the extremists he's caping for desire.

Kahanist ideology is now dominant.

It's literally impossible to even check updates from Gaza and the West Bank without seeing dozens of accounts braying for Palestinian blood and openly glorifying violence. Many of them self-IDed liberals, some quite prominent, gleefully embracing hate without consequences.

If you were born post 911 and have ever wondered what it was like directly following the attacks, you’re getting a taste of the open white supremacy and western colonialism that accompanied It. This is disgusting and only going to get worse it appears.

This site desperately needs a "glorifying violence" reporting function. I've already seen a number of accounts calling for war crimes against Palestinians and it's frustrating that they can't be put on a more serious track than the generic "anti-social behavior" option.
October 8, 2023 at 8:26 PM
Sure looks like anti-Palestinian racism and glorification of violence against Palestinians is just as frequent on this site as on the bad site. I wish people would consider why that is, and what that says about so many self-identified liberals. I've seen some nasty filth today.

I honestly don't know if hashtags work on this site, but if you have questions about events in #Israel and #Gaza I'd be happy to answer them. I have years of experience and some expertise, though as always you should take my opinions like anyone's with a grain of salt.

I've seen this video, and it's a likely violation of the principle of proportionality under IHL. I've not yet seen the Israeli justification, if they've provided one, but even a Hamas station in a building of 100 flats may not meet a proportionality assessment.
Saw Israel bomb a residential building called Palestine Tower in Gaza City live on Al-Jazeera over the shoulder of their on-air correspondent.
