Really interesting when you think of how last year’s Gävlebocken was devoured by birds.
In Old Scandinavia, a “Julenek”, a sheaf of grain kept over from the summer’s harvest, was left out for the birds at #Christmas. Farmers believed this tradition, known as the “Remembrance of Birds”, would ensure good luck, and a plentiful harvest the following year. #FolkloreThursday
