Turn this all the way UP.
TORRE: “What’s it like to watch CBS right now?”

CHUNG: “We don’t.”

Bill Webster was a true American public servant. He gave his life for others, and making America a better place. Nice to see the NYT give him the front page and above the fold today. RIP, Bill.

The #49ers with the biggest paydays when FA starts this week might be:

* G Aaron Banks
* CB Charvarius Ward
* DT Javon Hargrave
* OT Jaylon Moore
* LB Dre Greenlaw

Don't sleep on Moore, who appeared in 55 games (12 starts) for SF, most of them replacing Trent Williams at LT.

I don't think the Dems can stop the firings. But why aren't they proposing legislation that assures those that took the buyout get paid , and that all that are fired, get at least a year severance and health benefits? And any one with a health condition is covered the entire time they are sick?

I think Staley was a great DC for the Rams. Wasn't good as Chargers HC.

Shanahan brought him on staff just to see what he might add because Staley's a sharp guy, but he didn't seem to add much. Staley probably will be a DC and even HC in the future. I just don't think he's a great 49ers fit.
I'll try a little pre-aggregation: I critique Brandon Staley a lot and I did more in this episode. But I'm NOT criticizing him as a DC. It's good for coaches to have many league & media connections.

I'm just saying that this is not a thing that Kyle Shanahan seems to want from his staffers.

I don't have time to post full Hall of Fame projections tonight, but Carlos Beltrán median is now 73% (95% confidence interval = 69%-78%) and he's reaching the 75% election cutoff in 24% of my model's simulations.

Always fun to have an element of real suspense headed into the election reveal!

Predicting the Hall’s stingiest voters can be tricky, but maybe there’s a way to predict when they’ll coalesce around a candidate.

I always believe I should do more than just post my new Hall of Fame ballot.

I should explain exactly how I got there - and why I checked the names I did.

So yeah, I did that again. You're welcome.

I Googled up some Gus Williams tape so my wife could see what a star he was. His basketball hadn’t mattered to her. He was that sweet man we’d see at Lenny’s events.

I didn’t need Google. All the Coliseum memories run deep.

A thrill to have watched him. An honor to have known him.
