They're investments. All investments are supposed to make money. Whether that goes directly to the baseball or not, it's money to fund the Giants as a company.
Aren’t investments like the Curran Theatre (and Mission Bay real estate investments) supposed to fund the baseball enterprise? Similar to Chase, and related investments, and the Warriors?

Bradley probably wasn't going to get jumped by anybody Shanahan doesn't know well. (Like Jim Schwartz.)

Raheem Morris is, to paraphrase Harbaugh, a Shanahan trusted agent.
Gus Bradley was the leader in the clubhouse for DC...

But it was always possible that Shanahan would talk to somebody who he had to hire.

And Raheem Morris is one of his best friends in football.

We'll see what Morris does schematically. It'll be a 4-man line for sure.
Can confirm recent reports that the #49ers are poised to make Raheem Morris their new defensive coordinator.

International signings, draft-pick investments and staffing costs aren't part of luxury-tax calculations. So guess where the Giants have invested this season.

Well, in the Curran Theater, too.
There's clearly a pattern to what the Giants have done -- and not done -- this moderated offseason.

I think I can see a plan: Wait out the Dodgers' apex years. And don't get yourself into similar financial straits heading into a new labor system.

Deciphering the Giants’ plan — all about a pending Dodgers reckoning?
When MLB’s new labor deal arrives, maybe we’ll see the true impact of this zen offseason for Buster Posey and San Francisco’s front office.

De'Anthony Melton: "Early in my career, one of the vets told me, you know, when a superstar wants to get moved, everybody's on the block."
What was the mood around the Warriors last night -- less than a week before the trade deadline -- from ownership all the way through the locker room?

If I had to pick one word, I'd say "prepared."

No guarantee of a big trade. But everybody knows that they're chasing one.

I've gotta say Draymond said exactly what I thought he'd say. He's aware of what might happen. And if he was running the Warriors, he'd try to do the same thing.
Strange times. Draymond’s comments after the game yesterday were also unusual. Almost as if he’s expecting to get traded.

What happens if the Warriors can't get a Giannis trade done next week?

Probably depends. If Giannis doesn't get traded at all, they might hold their best stuff until July and try again.

If Giannis is traded elsewhere, I'd guess GSWs try to make another trade next week.

19-9 Warriors' fourth quarter so far
January 31, 2026 at 5:29 AM
How is this a 5-point game?
January 31, 2026 at 5:24 AM
Warriors announce it's right knee soreness.
Spencer at PG to start the third quarter in Curry's normal rotation.

Wouldn't be surprised if Curry wasn't feeling good tonight. Definitely sounded like he was battling a cold pregame in the locker room.

Apparently it's not.
Would think this is a GP2 game?
DET shoots 17-for-25 (76%) in the first quarter, leads 45-37.

Just an obliteration of the Warriors' defense. Tried zone. Didn't work.
January 31, 2026 at 4:19 AM
Not many guys on the Warriors' roster are built for a matchup like this.
January 31, 2026 at 4:19 AM
15 RIGHT NOW. And not a good sign: Warriors are down by 11
Just told @thompsonscribe.bsky.social
that the Warriors need 15 points from Draymond tonight. He said it's possible vs. DET.

And already 3 points.

And probably need to hold Duncan Robinson under 50. If possible.

One of the reasons I said the 49ers should target Jefferson is that things seemed uneasy in MIN.

Obviously Vikings Fans were infuriated with me for suggesting that.

How dare I.

So, what's next? Dunno, I got a little time to figure it out.

I do have one idea, though: What if I kept doing the same newsletter independently? Who knows, it might even be better.
