Toward the back end of this episode, Nick fires off a HIGH quality name for potential 49ers trade wish list discussion/ speculation/contemplation this offseason.

So good it surprised even me.

This is the Saleh bump.
Semi-decent 49ers' defensive stat might provide a bit of hope (and I forgot to put in the column) for Sunday:

They give up a lot of yards but not a ton of points--rank 13th in points allowed.

Some FG luck, but also 49ers ranked 12th in Red Zone defense.

Were 31st last year.
For once, the fate of a 49ers era is not at stake in these playoffs -- can the players embrace the low expectations and take a few swings?

Maybe the 49ers can embrace this lighter, lower-stakes postseason run
After the latest tallying of injuries and while viewing the arduous road through the NFC field, this playoff journey just feels less weighty.

They think they can be at least as good as they were last season, yes.
At this point in the season do you think Steph, Jimmy and Dray think this is roster that can contend?

Uhh, I think I've been saying that, dude?
He’s gone dude. 2 weeks.

No doubt, a 4-point swing in any close games is enormous. But they had a chance. They can't say they didn't have a chance.
That missed goaltending (and the resulting technical FT’s) came back to haunt them
January 6, 2026 at 5:42 AM
That's obviously what they hoped Kuminga could do for them this season. He didn't do it -- or didn't do it well enough for Kerr to even consider playing him anymore.

They've gotta turn Kuminga into somebody who can do this once in a while or more than once in a while.
Warriors needed a guy who could do something like Kobe Sanders did for the Clippers tonight. Just create some offense with the opponent swarming other guys.
Yeah, not likely to get a good shot with Curry fouled out vs. a good defense.

This is why I always say, even when the Warriors look really mediocre ... why wouldn't they do anything they can to just give Curry a shot in the playoffs?

Draymond 2
Just not enough offense. Points so far:

Podziemski 6

As bad a missed goaltending call as I've seen at this level. Collins got it a full one-one-thousand after it hit the board.
These officials are not having a good night. If it's close -- and that wasn't -- should just call that a goaltend and allow the other team to challenge.

Just not enough offense.

GSWs probably need a Curry explosion in the fourth -- and that's a lot to keep asking of him.
January 6, 2026 at 4:45 AM
Moody's playing good defense tonight like most nights, but they need him to score in these kinds of games. So far tonight: 2 points, 1 for 4.

If they could get a more dynamic wing player, could move Moody to a swing role with the 2nd unit... would get a huge offensive boost.

At halftime, Warriors down 4, and:
Draymond +10
Horford -8
Kawhi +9
January 6, 2026 at 4:07 AM
And Draymond is their best C.
Jimmy Butler is the Warriors' best PF

Geesh, @mattbarrows.bsky.social and I basically guessed all of the 49ers' injury updates correctly on this episode ... what will we talk about later this week? More injury stuff, I'm sure.

And ways the 49ers could (theoretically) pull off an upset.
