In this Indiana diner, everyone has three questions: How's the breaded tenderloin? Is the quarry hiring? And when will the feds finally put an end to congestion pricing in Manhattan?

I think an American flag created entirely by black men at the Superbowl is one of the best pieces of art I've seen in my lifetime. I hope it actually killed some folks. And I hope it finally closes the fucking book on the argument that we shouldn't use the flag to fight the God damned fascists.

Anyone else remember how the CTA's own public cost estimates for RLE went up 47% in **12 days** and no one cared?

One reason that there is a legislative process for appropriating money is so that uninformed liars can't submarine programs on a whim.
Makes you think. Really makes you think. Makes you think, about a lot of things.

These are not “settlements” they are “bribes” and should be described accurately. The reporting even explains that CBS executives believe this payment will help avert Trump blocking their merger. Thats a bribe. www.nytimes.com/2025/01/30/b...
Paramount in Settlement Talks With Trump Over ‘60 Minutes’ Lawsuit
A settlement, if reached, would be an extraordinary concession by a major U.S. media company to a sitting president.

Governments worth their salt take responsibility. Unfortunately we have four years of this blame game bullshit perpetuated by the liars and incompetent, unaccomplished losers who make up this administration.

Maybe it's better not to mess around with certain federal functions. It's not a game.

I have and will continue to. But you know why I say it here ? Because @bsky.app is 30m strong and growing quickly. The collective wisdom and influence of users here is far greater than any individual democrat.

I can't say it enough. Bluesky can be the influence that can counter RW media.
No offense, Mark, but you have influence and power most of us don’t. Why don’t you speak up to those in DC you have connections with? Actions speak louder than words as you well know.

I am a climate scientist and this is correct ⬇️
"every fraction of a degree matters" is true as hell. In the same way that releasing CO2 hurts people and planet, avoiding its release saves us from potential harm

This isn't some saccharine 'hopeful' message: it's the hard, inarguable physical reality.

This is a great figure. For all the doom & gloom about climate inaction, we have made a big dent over the past 25 years.

What started out as 3.5-4°C increase by 2100 is now down to 2-3°C. Of course, more work is urgently needed but this is progress! We don't let up now. h/t @hausfath.bsky.social

when you’re in grade school you learn about the war of 1812 as a kind of curiosity but i’ve read a few books this year where it has come up and to me, it seems like the first episode of “america fucks around and finds out with an ill-conceived war”
