my dudes there's no such thing as "too late" to regulate AI, that's a fake idea. AI models aren't untouchable data gods, they're algorithms hosted in cloud storage. Saying we can't regulate AI is like saying we can't deplatform Child P*rn bc "it's already out there". Like, 1s and 0s can be deleted

Please, don’t let Jonathan Joss’s story die down. Please, don’t do this to Indigenous people on Pride month. Please, recognize his whole neighborhood was in on his premeditated death and killed his dogs and burned his childhood home.

PLEASE REALIZE this is a hate crime against a gay AND Native man.
His husband said that the neighbors had been threatening to burn his house down for two years before one of them actually did.

Really great stuff here!
New: I did a deep dive into Daryl Morey’s history of late draft picks and UDFA signings with the Sixers, identifying what his front office covets down the board.

Six 2025 prospects fitting parts of the mold — and one who seems like an ideal fit at No. 35 overall:

Analyzing Daryl Morey's late draft picks as Sixers President of Basketball Operations could make it easier to predict what he will do at No. 35 next month.

Good to see this. Burning down the fed govt and walking away is not how it works.
Elon's legacy ranges from gutting cancer research to setting in motion millions of deaths from starvation or disease.

I'll be pushing for Congress to hold Elon & DOGE accountable—for every act of corruption, every disastrous consequence, and every law they have broken.

Trump officials' showings at hearings today were disasters, but it doesn't make headlines bc the media's default assumption is that Rs are clownish rascals. But if Dems didn't know what was happening at their agencies or what habeas corpus is, it'd be front page news. This is a key media asymmetry.

There's always this insistence that people need to "learn how to use AI so they aren't left behind" and as an artist and an author, I don't know what there is to *learn* from models that were.... trained on my work.
a non-zero number of people have told me with confidence that i'll definitely be incorporating gen ai into my workflow in the future and im losing my mcfreaking patience. "it's here to stay" not in my fucking house. "but you need to keep up with the times" then leave me behind.

The oil industry buys off Congress. No action on climate.

The NRA buys off Congress. No action on guns.

Insurance companies buy off Congress. No action on health care.

The list goes on and on.

Money in politics is the root of our dysfunction.

If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks can’t be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until they’re 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.

I hate to be that guy, but this is the five-alarm fire, and every elected Democrat and frankly, every Washington reporter should be ringing the bell. If it can happen to him, it can happen to anyone. Nobody with a voice should give this administration a moment’s peace about it.
NEW: A second filing today from the DOJ tells Judge Xinis that in their view, since Mr. Abrego is in Bukele's custody, she can't order them to do anything further to bring him back since that's not what "facilitate" means.

They also say the deal with Bukele is classified and/or a state secret.

An innocent man was “mistakenly” taken and sent to a foreign prison. The Supreme Court ruled 9-0 he must be brought home — yet he’s still there.

Every day this administration shows just how vile and lawless it remains.

Bring him home!
