For the nerds I made a minimal Go BSky Feed Generator template repo. It just fulfils the FeedGenerator XRPC contract so you can implement your feed however you want, from a DB or from the Firehose or whatever - https://github.com/ericvolp12/go-bsky-feed-generator

Feel free to clone and hack

Ya'll really gotta stop doing this. I saw a popular account do it recently and was kind of afraid to call it out. But the truth is this is not ok. Those of us with disabilities already have so much trouble accessing anything, please don't intentionally destroy the few ways we have to participate ❤️♿️

One of the under-appreciated roles of bartenders is that it‘s literally their job to cultivate strong community.

Regulars keep a place in business. The best bartenders curate a strong vibe that draws solid people in, who then form a community that gathers at your spot.

🤔 Now that I think about it... At this particular instant... Hachyderm feels a little better than Blue Sky. But the Blue Sky devs are working on it.

* Hachyderm has robust moderation with human moderators, Blue Sky doesn't yet.

* Hachyderm doesn't allow transphobic journalists in.

Still accurate.

BlueSky Devs are still working on it.

And hot take: the users that invite the nazi trolls in, are indistinguishable from the nazi trolls.🤷🏿‍♂️

Intentionally inviting nazis into a safe space just to entertain yourself, is the same sickness as putting 2 pitbulls into a yard to fight.

Hearing a lot about "decentralized social" (like BlueSky!) but not sure quite what it means and why folks are excited about it?

what I also need is a way to save alt text in photo metadata somehow so I don’t have to retype a description every time I repost a photo/meme

wikipedia-like tabs would be super helpful for my ADHD, they'd make it possible to save things for later

(right now i'd have to copy the URL and then paste it in from desktop because the app doesn't support URLs unless you directly click on them)

It's a text formatting trick that highlights the main parts of the word your brain needs and leaves the rest as normal text to be left to the brain to figure out itself.

Hey all,

If you are a developer or have technical experience with Bluesky/ATProto at a mid-low level and are in NYC, kindly give me ping me here.

We’re building out the Bluesky NYC technical community and would love to get connected devs/technical folk in the NYC area.

Cheers!

Hey! We hear you, growing diverse communities is critical to early social networks. @aliafonzy.bsky.social @pariss.blacktechpipeline.com and others have done a lot of community building already, and we're doing our best to seed future invites to help communities grow with us.
